Last week, The Southern California Motion Picture Council presented their Annual Golden Halo Award Presentation. Among those being honored were Ja'net DuBois, Bridget MacDonald and John Pierre, but the evenings highlight was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to actress, comedienne and humanitarian, Geri Jewell. Among those in attendance to honor Ms. Jewell, were Alison Arngrim, Ed Asner, Kelsey Collins, June Faray, Ford Austin, Rose Marie, Margaret O'Brien and a special letter sent by Norman Lear. Emmy-winning filmmaker Stephanie J. Castillo is running a 45-day global fundraising campaign at Kickstarter.com to raise $50,000 to begin shooting her feature-length documentary film, NIGHT BIRD SONG: THE THOMAS CHAPIN STORY this summer. The shoot locations will include the New York City area, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Europe. The Kickstarter campaign was launched on February 13, and will end on March 31. From March 7-17, 2013, Houston Ballet will present The Rite of Spring, a program of premieres featuring three exciting 21st century choreographers and honoring the centenary of the premiere of Igor Stravinsky and Vaslav Nijinsky's landmark work. The company will unveil the world premiere of Stanton Welch's The Rite of Spring. A world premiere by internationally renowned choreographer Edwaard Liang to music by the Italian composer Ezio Bosso and a Houston Ballet premiere of Mark Morris's Pacific round out the program.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced the availability of In Two Minds: A Biography of Jonathan Miller by Kate Bassett, published by Oberon Books (London). This is the first comprehensive biography of Jonathan Miller, the controversial humorist, public intellectual and TV personality who first shot to fame, co-starring with Peter Cook, Dudley Moore and Alan Bennett, in Beyond the Fringe - the groundbreaking satirical revue which became a Tony Award-winning Broadway hit.

UW School of Drama presents David Edgar's Pentecost, directed by MFA in Directing candidate Andrew McGinn, in his thesis production at the Jones Playhouse. Previews begin Wednesday, February 20, 2013. The production runs through Sunday, March 3, and features performers from the School of Drama's graduate and undergraduate programs.
