The award-winning Peccadillo Theater Company will present a staged reading of one of Eugene O'Neill's most autobiographical plays, The Straw on Monday, June 4th at 7 pm at Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street, between Ninth & Tenth Avenues). The presentation will be directed by Peccadillo's OBIE and Lortel Award-winning artistic director, Dan Wackerman. The cast will feature Richard Poe, Ellen Adair, Lee Aaron Rosen, Jeffrey C. Hawkins, Susan Jeffries, Eric Hoffmann, and Jacqueline Baum.

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced that The Old Globe will produce the World Premieres of four new plays and musicals in its 2011-12 Winter Season. The new theatrical season of Arlington's American Century Theater celebrates a Broadway masterpiece by a giant of TV's Golden Age, the first Pulitzer Prize-winning tragedy by America's greatest tragedian, a return to the stage by the funniest Ziegfeld Girl, a grand comic classic by Ferber and Kaufman, and a science fiction social satire.

Just in - NEXT TO NORMAL has one the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama! As per the official Pulitzer's web site: For a distinguished play by an American author, preferably original in its source and dealing with American life, Ten thousand dollars ($10,000).

The 2010 Pulitzer Prizewinners and Nominated Finalists in all categories will be announced on April 12, 2010 at 3 p.m. Eastern daylight time. Finalists are not announced in advance. The 2010 Prizes are awarded for work published, produced or premiered in 2009.

Two rarely performed masterpieces of American theatre, one a European premiere, opened to widespread critical acclaim at Northampton's Royal & Derngate in October 2009. Now, riding the wave of its success, Spring Storm by Tennessee Williams and Beyond the Horizon by Eugene O'Neill will transfer to the National Theatre from 24 March (with press performances on 7 April). The transfer will be a fitting finale to the 125th birthday celebrations of the Royal stage Northampton and is the latest in a string of successes for the theatre, which includes a triple win at the TMA Awards 2009.

It was believed by many back in 1932, as it still is today, that the only reason Eugene O'Neill was not awarded that year's Pulitzer Prize for his Mourning Becomes Electra, an epic retelling of Aeschylus' Oresteia trilogy that declares Sigmund Freud as the true victor of the American Civil War, was that after granting him top honors for Beyond The Horizon (1920), Anna Christie (1922) and Strange Interlude (1928) the gang at Columbia figured enough was enough. So history was made that year when the Gershwin, Gershwin, Kaufman & Ryskin lark Of Thee I Sing became the first musical so honored, leaving O'Neill waiting until after his death to nab another, for Long Day's Journey Into Night.

Never before seen outside the US, Spring Storm will mark the European Premiere of Tennessee Williams' tragic drama that prefigures his later works, Streetcar Named Desire and A Glass Menagerie.

Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, a new eco-friendly festival designed to promote social and cultural awareness in the theatrical community, launches with 35 premieres in June 2009. Co-Executive Directors, Glory Bowen and Frank Calo, are excited by the prospects of premiering new shows which foster social change, benefiting at least 26 various not-for-profit organizations, while connecting artists with new audiences in a fun theatrical environment.

Desire Under the Elms at Goodman Theater opens tonight. Rumors have spread that the show has Broadway in its sights, and hopes to come to New York next spring. The show has been extended before opening night, as it will now play through March 1. Goodman Theatre Artistic Director Robert Falls and renowned actor Brian Dennehy bring their artistic partnership to new heights with Eugene O'Neill's haunting drama, Desire Under the Elms-marking their fifth collaboration on O'Neill's work over two decades.
