SALON/SANCTUARY CONCERTS opens its fifth season with the return of 'THE HEIRS OF TANTALUS'.

Stephen Sondheim and Wynton Marsalis will collaborate on A BED AND A CHAIR: A New York Love Affair, a new musical event featuring Sondheim's music arranged and performed by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. This Encores! Special Event, directed by frequent Sondheim collaborator John Doyle, with choreography by Parker Esse and musical supervision by David Loud, was conceived by Peter Gethers, Jack Viertel and John Doyle, and will run for seven performances, November 13 - 17 at City Center.

MTV announced today via its various social media platforms that megastar Kanye West is set to perform on the '2013 MTV Video Music Awards' stage LIVE from Brooklyn's Barclays Center on August 25 at 9:00pm ET/PT. Following his performance of 'BLKKK SKKKN HEAD,' Kanye will triumphantly enter the history books by tying Madonna as the artist with the most VMA performances. Both artists have notched performances at seven separate VMAs. In celebration of the forthcoming performance and feat, MTV Jams, MTV's 24-hour hip-hop music channel and MTV Hits, MTV's 24-hour music channel, will feature an hour block of Kanye West videos and performances from 4-5pm ET/PT. On Wednesday morning, MTV's AMTV will feature playlist of Kayne videos and performances. The announcement was made today from the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and shared across MTV's social channels on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Vine.

Uptown Players, a professional theater group located in the Uptown area of Dallas, has announced its 2014 season at the Kalita Humphreys Theater, which will feature the regional premieres of the 2013 Tony Award winning play, Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike, the 2012 Tony nominated play The Lyons, the 2004 Tony award winning musical, The Boy From Oz, plus the return of an audience favorite, Pageant. Uptown Players will also present its annual fundraising performance - Broadway Our Way, which will be held in January 2014. In April, Uptown Players will join forces with the Turtle Creek Chorale for a concert version of Sweeney Todd at the City Performance Hall. City Center's annual Gala Benefit will take place on Thursday, November 14 and will include a post-performance dinner at the Plaza Hotel.

New York Live Arts' newest program initiative, Live Ideas is an annual humanities festival that will explore a different theme each year over several days. The inaugural festival, The Worlds of Oliver Sacks, will take place from today, April 17 through 21, 2013 and is comprised of more than 20 events, including performances, films and discussions that showcase works of art and spark conversations that engage the prevalent themes in the acclaimed neurologist's works.
