 Grand Rapids Ballet School is offering an excellent activity for children in West Michigan during spring break from school.

???????On Tuesday, March 21, the New Jersey Theatre Alliance will present a staged reading of A Year in the Trenches at the Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum in Morristown.

In celebration of composer Lou Harrison's 2017 centennial, “sterling pianist and intrepid illuminator of the classical avant-garde” (The New York Times) Sarah Cahill will perform concerts of his music spanning half a century – exuberant dance music from his early years, dissonant complexity from the 1940s, and substantial works from the 1980s – as well as music by his close friends and colleagues including Henry Cowell, John Cage, Johanna Beyer, Merton Brown, James Cleghorn, and Frank Wigglesworth in a nationwide tour to cities including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, Miami, Cleveland, Orlando, Maui, Chicago, and more. Her concerts will range from solo piano recitals featuring unpublished works by Harrison to performances of Harrison's Piano Concerto to chamber performances with well-known Harrison collaborators and scholars, including percussionist William Winant, who premiered the Varied Trio with Harrison.

The Jurkowitz Center for Community Engagement is pleased to present For Greater Glory, the next installment of the "Movies That Matter with Hal Conklin" Film Series, on Monday, March 6, 2017 at The Granada Theatre. Set in Mexico during the Cristeros War, For Greater Glory tells the inspiring and tragic story of when the Mexican government tried unsuccessfully, but brutally, to rid the country of the influence of the Catholic Church. Part of The Granada Theatre's ongoing community engagement initiatives, this "Movie That Matters" will screen in partnership with Padres Creando Sueños (Parents Creating Dreams) and feature a pre-screening audience Q&A discussion with series curator Hal Conklin and organization representatives.

Complementing the music festival, some of the Tuscan master's most compelling compatriots provide other key SummerScape highlights.

The Pasadena Playhouse announced today that The New Victory Theater in New York will present the Off-Broadway premiere of The Pasadena Playhouse/Crossroads Theatre Company production of FLY, by Trey Ellis and Ricardo Khan, the Tony Award-winning co-founder and former artistic director of Crossroads Theatre Company, to open March 11, 2016.
