'Feathers of Fire: A Persian Epic' is a visually breathtaking cinematic shadow play for all ages, created and directed by Hamid Rahmanian, a 2014 Guggenheim fellowship-winning filmmaker/visual artist. Inspired by the tenth century Persian epic 'Shahnameh' (The Book of Kings), it dramatizes the origin story from the tale with elaborate shadow puppets, multimedia and live actors. The production, which debuted at BAM in 2016 and was presented at the Metropolitan Museum of Art the same year, returns to New York next month for two days only. It will be presented by Fictionville Studio September 7 and 8 at Kaye Playhouse, 695 Park Ave. (at 68th Street), for three performances only before it travels to China and Paris.

This year's program features a revival of Nijinsky's L'Apres-Midi d'un Faune staged by the 98-year-old Ann Hutchinson Guest, a new and as-of-yet untitled pas de trois by Pam Tanowitz, Frederick Ashton's La Chatte métamorphoses en femme, and Antonia Franceschi's She Holds Out Her Hand which premiered at Danspace in Fall 2016. All pieces will be performed to live music. A post-show celebration with wine, hors d'oeuvres, and music will be held after the opening night performance for which tickets are $75. San Francisco Opera General Director Matthew Shilvock and Music Director Nicola Luisotti today announced plans for the 2017-18 repertory season. The Company's 95th season will open Friday, September 8 with a gala performance of Giacomo Puccini'sTurandot led by Maestro Luisotti and an international cast starring Martina Serafin, Maria Agresta and Brian Jagde.

This monumental, searing masterwork, which earned O'Neill his fourth Pulitzer Prize for Drama, opens at Palm Beach Dramaworks tonight, January 29 and continues through February 28. Please note that all evening performances are at 7:30pm, and all matinees are at 1:00pm.

DALLAS, FEBRUARY 20, 2015 – The Dallas Opera is preparing to whisk audiences away to the Latin Quarter of Paris for the blockbuster opera of the season: Giacomo Puccini's 1896 masterpiece, LA BOHÈME, based on Henri Murger's newspaper serial-turned-novel, Scènes de la vie de bohème.

The much-anticipated Manila premiere of Broadway's longest-running American musical, CHICAGO, razzle-dazzled audiences with its hard-hitting numbers (All That Jazz, Cell Block Tango, Razzle Dazzle), which speak of passion, treachery, murder, and glossed-over celebrity, on opening night. Leading the pack of an all-American cast of Broadway veterans is Bianca Marroquin who rocked Solaire Resort and Casino's The Theatre with her multi-faceted portrayal of accused murderess Roxie Hart. The strong ensemble, while writhing, gyrating, and exploding to John Kander's music, provided the backdrop to Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse's dark satirical commentary of the 1920s Prohibition-era Chicago. When the audience rose to a standing ovation at the end of the show, it was palpable that even in these modern days, it is impossible to convict good looking murderesses.

The Center for Contemporary Opera (CCO) is proud to pay tribute to composer Hans Werner Henze, who died in 2012 at the age of 86, with performances of his El Cimarron (The Runaway Slave), featuring baritone Eric McKeever in the title role. Not performed in New York since 1986, El Cimarron has music direction by Sara Jobin, and stage direction by Eugenia Arsenis, singled out as stage director by Miguel Barnet, author of the book upon which the opera is based. Performances are January 16 & 17, 7:30 PM, at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Theater, Broadway & 95th Street, NYC (entrance on 95th Street, West of Broadway)

The Amore Opera presents an evening of morte and amore with a circus-themed pairing of Leoncavallo's Pagliacci and the rarely performed operetta, The Circus Princess by Hungarian composer Emmerich Kálmán. This double bill conducted by Maestro Gregory Ortega and directed by Nathan Hull features new productions of both of these one-act works. It will open tonight, December 13 at 7:30pm at The Connelly Theater and runs for twelve performances through January 5, 2014.
