Bill Rudman, Artistic Director of the Musical Theater Project who hosts the radio show 'Footlight Parade' and often co-hosts the MTP live performances, has had an interest in musical theater since he was five and his parents let him stay up late to watch Mary Martin in Peter Pan on television. Production photos have been released for the professional European premiere of  Rodgers & Hammerstein's ALLEGRO. The musical opened on Broadway in 1947, their third collaboration for the stage following Oklahoma! and Carousel, and has been revived by producer Danielle Tarento and director Thom Southerland, the award-winning team behind Grey Gardens, Grand Hotel, Titanic, Parade and Mack & Mabel. Southerland is working on a new adaptation of the book and the production will have brand new orchestrations. The production runs 5 August-10 September at the Large at Southwark Playhouse.

The eagerly awaited professional European premiere of Rodgers & Hammerstein's ALLEGRO, which opened on Broadway in 1947, and was their third collaboration for the stage following Oklahoma! and Carousel, begins tonight, August 5, at Southwark Playhouse.

Director Thom Southerland has built a career on revelatory musical revivals in smaller fringe venues, from Me and Juliet and The Grand Tour at Finborough Theatre to Titanic, Grand Hotel and Grey Gardens at Southwark Playhouse. He's programmed an enticing range of musicals for his first season as artistic director of Charing Cross Theatre, but first up is the European premiere of Rodgers and Hammerstein's little-seen Allegro, playing at Southwark from August 5.
