Bernard Labadie to Conduct NY Phil in Mozart's Requiem, Works by J.S. Bach and Handel, 11/7-9

Bernard Labadie will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct Mozart's Requiem; J.S. Bach's Cantata No. 51, Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen!; and Handel's 'Let the Bright Seraphim' from Samson. The program's soloists will include soprano Miah Persson, mezzo- soprano Stephanie Blythe, tenor Frédéric Antoun in his Philharmonic debut, bass Andrew Foster- Williams, Philharmonic Principal Trumpet Philip Smith, and the New York Choral Artists directed by Joseph Flummerfelt. The concerts will take place Thursday, November 7, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, November 8 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, November 9 at 8:00 p.m.

Theatre Puget Sound (TPS) has announced husband and wife team, John Kazanjian and Mary Ewald as the 2013 recipients of the Gregory A. Falls Sustained Achievement Award. The committee of prior recipients has made this selection to honor their dedication to the Seattle theatre community, much of it through their efforts with The New City Theatre. This award along with 17 others will be presented at the 5th Annual Gregory Awards being held at The Neptune Theatre on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 7:30pm.

Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre (NBT) and Brooklyn's 651 ARTS partner together to present a dynamic conversation between Legendary dancer/choreographer Bill T. Jones and internationally renowned dancer, choreographer Gregory Vuyani Maqoma that falls inline with NBT's 45th Season of "Moving the Legacy Forward." The conversation will happen on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 7PM. The discussion, entitled "History, Memory and the Creative Process," will focus on the creative process of making a dance work based on biographical and historical narratives. National Black Theatre's CEO, Sade Lythcott will moderate the conversation, which will be held at the NBT located at 2031 Fifth Avenue, New York, New York 10035. Tickets to this event are with a suggested donation of $10.

The weekend-long marathon will feature 14 classic Levine performances, hand-picked by the maestro himself, beginning on Saturday, June 22 and continuing through midnight on Levine's birthday, Sunday, June 23. The first broadcast, at 6 a.m. Saturday, will be a 1991 performance of Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera starring Luciano Pavarotti; the celebration will conclude at 12 a.m. on Monday, June 24 with a 1994 performance of Verdi's rarely heard Stiffelio, starring Placido Domingo in the title role.
