Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College opens its 2009-2010 Season on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 3pm with Irving Berlin's I Love A Piano. This enchanting new musical revue spans over seven decades of American history as seen through the insightful and earnest eyes of Irving Berlin, a man whom Jerome Kern described by saying 'Irving Berlin has no place in American music...He IS American music!'

In addition to the previously announced 27 full productions, The New York Musical Theatre Festival (Isaac Robert Hurwitz, Executive Director & Producer) today announced two dance productions, nine special events and concerts, and three developmental readings that will all take place during this year?s three-week festival.

After a 48 year absence, Bye Bye Birdie will return to Broadway this fall presented by Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) in a production starring John Stamos (Albert Peterson), Gina Gershon (Rose Alvarez), Bill Irwin (Mr. Harry MacAfee) and Jayne Houdyshell (Mrs. Mae Peterson). Directed & choreographed by Robert Longbottom, Bye Bye Birdie has a book by Michael Stewart, lyrics by Lee Adams and music by Charles Strouse. Roundabout is proud to welcome back three artists who have previously worked at the theatrical institution: John Stamos, Gina Gershon and Bill Irwin.

The 2009 Festival of New American Musicals, a four-month musical theatre festival, will be held in April through July, 2009, throughout Southern California. Marcia Seligson, Bob Klein, and Linda Shusett are the Executive Producers of the second annual Festival.
