It's nearly here! An initiative and production years in the making comes to the Seattle Repertory Theatre Bagley Wright Theatre stage in just two short weeks in the form of a musical adaptation of The Odyssey, featuring an over-100-person cast.

Previews begin tonight, September 6, at 8PM for the Playwrights Horizons world premiere production of The Treasurer, a new play by Max Posner (Judy) and directed by three-time Lortel Award winner David Cromer (The Band's Visit, Our Town, Adding Machine). Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons, the play is the second production of the theater company's 2017/2018 Season.

Walnut Street Theatre's 2017-2018 Independence Studio on 3 season opens with Broadway's tribute to a woman of song, SOUVENIR, A FANTASIA ON THE LIFE OF FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS. Written by Stephen Temperley and directed by Debi Marcucci, the production begins with previews on September 12th, opens September 14th and continues through October 15th.

Responding to a world where the movement of people is never far from the front pages, theatre producers Fuel are developing and presenting several projects with artists that address the most pressing issue of our time. If someone offered me to pay money to take a look at another family's arguments for two and a half hours, I'd probably decline. This is exactly what PALM SPRINGS does: portray a family on Christmas Eve who quarrel on and on. And the translated production of OTHER DESERT CITIES does this with success. The production is on a limited run until February 5 at the DeLaMar Theater in Amsterdam. I visited the show during last weekend's BGL Nationaal Theaterweekend at a sold-out Saturday night performance.
