Carey joins the judges' panel when AMERICAN IDOL returns in January 2013 on FOX.

Continuing its 12-year relationship with Athol Fugard, The Fountain Theatre celebrates the master playwright's 80th birthday with the U.S. premiere of his newest play. Directed by Stephen Sachs and starring Morlan Higgins, Julanne Chidi Hill and Jacqueline Schultz, The Blue Iris opens at the Fountain on August 24, with low-priced previews beginning August 18.

Jonathan Lewis' OUR BOYS opens for a limited 12-week season at the Duchess Theatre on Wednesday 3 October, with previews from Wednesday 26 September. The production features Arthur Darvill (best known for his role as Rory in Doctor Who) and Laurence Fox (who played James in Lewis); today, the Daily Mail reports that Matthew Lewis, most recognizable for his role in the HARRY POTTER series of films, has joined the cast.

Easton's State Theatre has announced its 2012-13 season- on sale to State Theatre Members Wed, August 1 (Box Office window at 453 Northampton Street opens at 6 AM; Online Ticketing and Phone lines open at Noon). Tickets will go on sale to the Public August 15th at 10 AM. Limit 6 tickets per Member per performance during Members Only sales. Dame Helen Mirren is currently considering a role as Queen Elizabeth II in THE AUDIENCE, a play about the Queen's reign so far by Peter Morgan (The Queen, Frost/Nixon) in the West End this fall and on Broadway in spring 2013, according to the New York Post. Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot) has been tipped to direct the play, which will humanise the Queen by mixing stories of her private and public lives.

Trinity Repertory Company previously announced that Rhode Island's own Academy Award-nominated actress, Viola Davis, would be honored with the 2012 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts at the 16th annual Pell Awards. Theater educator Elaine Foster Perry will receive the Charles Sullivan Award for Distinguished Service in the Arts, Brown University President Ruth J. Simmons will receive the Pell Award For Leadership in Arts Education, and J.L. "Lynn" Singleton, President of the Providence Performing Arts Center and Professional Facilities Management, will be honored as the recipient of the Pell Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Arts. All awardees are past or current Rhode Islanders.

Uncle Vanya was part of Chichester's very first season in 1962 and became a key part of its history and is revisited during Festival 2012.
