Today (4 August 2017) Michael Harrison and David Ian, Producers of the West End production of Annie announced that from 18 September to 26 November 2017, Craig Revel Horwood will join the West End Company to play the role of Miss Hannigan for 10 weeks. 

Olivier Award winner, West End and Broadway star, and director of the Huntington's Merrily We Roll Along, Maria Friedman brings her critically acclaimed solo show Lenny & Steve: The Music of Bernstein & Sondheim to the Huntington for a one-night only concert event on Monday, September 18 at 7:30pm, accompanied by her longtime collaborator, musical director and pianist Jason Carr. This special cabaret will take place at the Avenue of the Arts / Huntington Avenue Theatre. Tickets are now on sale and start at $25.

Gloucester Stage Company continues its 38th season of professional theater on Cape Ann with N. Richard Nash's moving American classic The Rainmaker from July 14 through August 5 at 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. Set in the time of a paralyzing drought in Depression-era America, The Rainmaker tells the story of a pivotal hot summer day in the life of spinsterish Lizzie Curry, whose father and two brothers are worried as much about her marriage prospects as they are about their dying cattle. Enter Starbuck, the consummate con man, who promises to solve all their problems, for a fee. Directed by Gloucester Stage Artistic Director Robert Walsh, The Rainmaker cast features Brian Homer as Starbuck; Jessica Bates as Lizzie Curry; David DeBeck as H.C. Curry, the patriarch of the Curry family; Joe Short and Sean McCoy as the Curry brothers; Dave Rich as File and longtime Gordon College Professor of Theater Arts Norm Jones as Sheriff Thomas. N. Richard Nash's most celebrated play, The Rainmaker, appeared in all three mediums; on Broadway in 1954, as a motion picture starring Katharine Hepburn in 1956, and as a television production in 1982. A musical version of The Rainmaker, entitled 110 Degrees in the Shade, debuted on Broadway in 1963.

The Muny announced today 21 principal cast members for its 99th season. Full company casting will be announced throughout April. The cast and creative team is complete for Objects in the Mirror, a Goodman Theatre-commissioned world premiere by Charles Smith. Directed by Resident Director Chuck Smith, Objects in the Mirror is inspired by the playwright's real-life friendship with a Liberian refugee-turned-actor, Shedrick Yarkpai-portrayed by Daniel Kyri, in his Goodman debut. The production was developed through the 2015 New Stages festival and features a 5-member cast who brings to life the gripping account of one Liberian refugee's attempts to find peace by exposing a potentially dangerous lifelong secret. Objects in the Mirror appears April 29 through June 4 (opening night is May 8) in the Albert Theatre. Artists Repertory Theatre is partnering with local arts advocacy non-profit Isinglass to offer Egg, the organization's three year-old summer theatre leadership academy. Egg is an intensive seven-week program that teaches high school students the art and business of producing their own theatrical production. This summer 2017 program concludes with a week-long planning session for students to develop theatre and arts advocacy projects which they implement in their own schools during the following school year.
