In recent years, some of the most popular Broadway shows have had their beginning on the silver screen; while popular movies began on the stage. Without a doubt, Broadway and Hollywood go hand-in-hand in the modern era of entertainment. It will be this combination that audiences will celebrate during The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre's 2013 Mainstage Season. The Frederick theatre has announced its upcoming 19th season, which brings together shows that have been a success on stage and screen.

La Jolla Playhouse presents An Iliad, a one-man adaptation of Homer's classic tale, adapted by Denis O'Hare (Tony Award-winning actor in Take Me Out) and Lisa Peterson (director of The Playhouse's Surf Report and Be Aggressive), based on a translation by Robert Fagles, directed by Lisa Peterson. A co-production with Berkeley Repertory Theatre, An Iliad features Henry Woronicz as the "Poet," with Brian Ellingsen as the "Musician" and runs now through September 9 in the Mandell Weiss Forum. This September the Fabulous Fox Theatre will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its 1982 re-opening. Over the past three decades, the Fox has become the premiere arts venue in St. Louis, the cornerstone of the Grand Center Arts District and a nationally-recognized presenter of concerts and Broadway touring shows.

Meredith Willson's The Music Man will play the Frederick City venue beginning September 7th.

REBECCA, the new musical based on the classic novel by Daphne du Maurier novel, has found its male and female leads: Jill Paice will play the role of "I" and Ryan Silverman the role of "Maxim de Winter." REBECCA will open on Broadway Sunday, November 18 at The Broadhurst Theatre. Previews will begin Tuesday, October 30.

The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre is cutting loose this summer with the dance musical Footloose. The stage production, based on the Paramount Pictures film, opens at the Frederick theatre tonight, June 15th and run through August 25th.

The Public Theater announced today that Tony Award winner Denis O'Hare has been cast as The Baker in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical INTO THE WOODS, directed by Timothy Sheader with co-direction by Liam Steel. INTO THE WOODS will be O'Hare's Shakespeare in the Park debut. Previews begin on Monday, July 23 at the Delacorte Theater and continue for five weeks through Saturday, August 25, with an official press opening on Thursday, August 9.
