O'Neil Center Names 2010 NPC Selections; Uhry et al. Named Playwrights in Residence

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center announced today that seven plays will be developed at the 2010 National Playwrights Conference under the leadership of artistic director Wendy C. Goldberg. The selected playwrights will spend the month of July at the O'Neill's Waterford, Connecticut campus developing and presenting staged readings of their work during the NPC's 46th season. Box office and online ticket sales open Wednesday, June 9; advance ticket sales will be available to O'Neill Members beginning Monday, May 17.

North Shore Music Theatre Reopens Under New Leadership for 2010 Season

North Shore Music Theatre, which closed in June 2009, is back with an exciting 2010 musical season filled with classic, contemporary and much-loved Broadway favorites. The new NSMT is under the leadership and ownership of Bill Hanney. Experienced in theater management, Hanney is also the Owner/Producer of Theatre By The Sea in Rhode Island, a 500 seat summer theatre now in it's 4th successful year under his leadership. Mr Hanney is also the owner/operator of Entertainment Cinemas, a chain of movie theatres throughout New England.

Hamingson) announced complete casting today for the world premiere of IDIOT SAVANT, written and directed by Richard Foreman. American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) continues its 2008-09 season with John Guare's Rich & Famous, directed by John Rando (Urinetown, The Musical and Wedding Singer on Broadway) in its first major revival since its 1976 New York debut. From the ingenious mind of John Guare, who brought Six Degrees of Separation and The House of Blue Leaves to the American stage, this delicious dark comedy springs to life with twisted humor, rapid-fire dialogue, and outrageous plot twists. The revival script includes significant rewrites to the original text, as well as hilarious songs freshly scribed by Guare himself. In Rich and Famous, playwright Bing Ringling yearns to savor the sweet taste of celebrity, and he's hoping play number 844 will be his lucky break. But on opening night, he slips into a nightmarish phantasmagoria that shows him just how wrong things can go.
