The seventh season of CONTACT!, the New York Philharmonic's new-music series, continues with 'Salonen's Floof and Other Delights,' curated and hosted by The Marie-Jose?e Kravis Composer-in-Residence Esa-Pekka Salonen, featuring music written by him and composers who influenced him. The program features Lutos?awski's String Quartet, Donatoni's Hot, Castiglioni's Dulce refrigerium, and Esa-Pekka Salonen's Floof (Songs of a Homeostatic Homer). The concert takes place Monday, February 1, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. at National Sawdust, which is co-presenting the program.

Like many Ventura County performers, Autumn Bodily has a long career in local theater. She started as a teenager in 1986 with Young Artists Ensemble in one of their earliest productions. Autumn made her Conejo Players debut in 1989 in Annie before getting married at 22 and moving around the state. She attended college and grad school, had children, and worked as a company member for the Sierra Repertory Theatre in Sonora. Her next move took her and her family from Northern California to San Diego where she worked for the La Jolla Playhouse doing page-to-stage productions. While there, she worked on many shows that would later progress to Broadway. In 2006, she performed in the musical version of Doctor Zhivago, working with composer Lucy Simon and director Des McAnuff. The show had a brief run this past spring on Broadway but only lasted for 23 performances. Since she returned to the Conejo Valley, she has performed in a variety of community theater productions, including Cabaret (Camarillo Skyway Playhouse) as Fraulein Kost and Damn Yankees (Conejo Players) as Gloria Thorpe. Autumn plays the role of Sally Durant Plummer in the Conejo Players Theatre's current production of Follies.

Guy Gilchrist, the international award-winning cartoonist of 'Nancy,' has teamed up with Keep Tennessee Beautiful and written and illustrated the children's book, 'Nancy and Sluggo Love Tennessee: A Story about Keeping Tennessee Beautiful.' The book will be launched on September 15, 2015 at the Tennessee Department of Transportation and Keep Tennessee Beautiful Biennial Conference, 'Live, Learn, Lead.' Later that day, there will be a joint press conference with Gilchrist, Kevin Triplett, Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development and Missy Marshall, the Executive Director of Keep Tennessee Beautiful at the Tennessee State Museum in downtown Nashville at 4:00 pm. The launch of 'Nancy and Sluggo Love Tennessee' coincides with the 20th anniversary of Gilchrist drawing the iconic, 'Nancy' comic strip. 'Nancy and Sluggo Love Tennessee' is the result of an 11-month collaborative effort between Keep Tennessee Beautiful and Gilchrist. The book is unique as this is a rare instance when Sluggo shares equal billing with Nancy herself. 'I am proud to call Tennessee home,' said Guy Gilchrist. 'This state is one of the most beautiful in the nation. The way to keep and preserve Tennessee's natural beauty is by teaching our children the importance of both recycling and not littering. 'Nancy and Sluggo Love Tennessee' does this while also educating children about the wonderful attractions and places that make Tennessee special. Under Gilchrist, the 'Nancy' comic strip has seen an increased audience and also been introduced to millions of readers digitally. Nancy has also become a part of the Nashville scene with celebrities vying for original Nancy art and to be mentioned in the comic strip. Nashville highlighted the comic strip in 2013 with a one-of-a-kind exhibit, 'Nancy Loves Nashville,' at the Nashville International Airport. At the age of 24, Guy Gilchrist was hand-selected to create Jim Henson's 'Muppets' comic strip that was printed worldwide in 660-plus newspapers daily from 1981 to 1986. Throughout the years, he has set his hand to such notable cartoons as 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,' 'Looney Tunes,' 'Tom & Jerry,' 'Fraggle Rock' and 'The Pink Panther' and was instrumental in the creation of 'The Muppet Babies.' Syndicated internationally in 80 countries and some 400 newspapers, 'Nancy' has a viewership of 57 million readers around the world. Gilchrist has been recognized and honored internationally for his creativity and authorship. Brown) announced today that they will present the Pulitzer Prize Finalist and Tony Award-nominated production of THE GOSPEL AT COLONUS starring Tony Award-winner Roger Robinson (Joe Turner's Come and Gone) as Oedpius. The acclaimed production, conceived and adapted by Lee Breuer (Mabou Mines' Trilogy) and music by Bob Telson (Lincoln Center Theater's Chronicle of a Death Foretold), is a soul stirring dramatic-musical which takes place within the framework of a Pentecostal church service set against the tragic Greek background of the story of Oedipus at Colonus, in which the exiled king Oedipus seeks a place where he may be properly buried. ERT's production, directed by Andi Chapman (Actors Co-op's Steel Magnolias - Drama-Logue Award for Outstanding Director), will commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Los Angeles Premiere. Performances will run tonight, June 18 - July 19, 2015 with an official press opening on Saturday, June 20 at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center (4718 West Washington Boulevard) in Los Angeles.

Tomorrow is a day for celebration, musical theatre fans, as Image Entertainment releases THE STEPHEN SONDHEIM COLLECTION. This collection includes some of the most glorious productions of the musical theatre icon's works. Mr. Goldstein was selected to receive the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Schmidt will receive the Robert L.B. Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent. Below, BroadwayWorld sends a fond farewell to those who passed away in 2014.
