The Old Globe presents the West Coast premiere of THE METROMANIACS by supremely clever playwright David Ives (All in the Timing, Time Flies). This uproarious new 'translaptation' of a classic French farce, Alexis Piron's La Metromanie, will be directed by one of America's most renowned stage directors, Michael Kahn, presented in association with Shakespeare Theatre Company.

L'ensemble de l'equipe s'associe a la douleur de sa famille et de ses proches. Jean-Albert Cartier (1930 - 2015) Ne a Marseille, apres des debuts comme critique d'art au journal « Combat » et a France Inter, il cree en 1968 le Ballet- Theatre contemporain et dirige le Centre choregraphique et lyrique d'Angers, avec sa complice Francoise Adret, ou il fera decouvrir en France nombre de createurs et notamment Jorge Lavelli. En 1978, il dirige le Ballet-Theatre francais de Nancy et en 1980 est nomme directeur du Chatelet par Marcel Landowski, lors de la creation du « Theatre musical de Paris - Chatelet », subventionne par la Ville de Paris. Il sera designe en 1987 « personnalite musicale de l'annee ».

The Algonquin Kid is based on Michael's experience as child being raised at the opulent and historic landmark building in NYC of The Algonquin Hotel. Located in the heart of NYC, this palatial haven to talent Icons from Ella Fitzgerald to the most unknown up and comers, The Algonquin Hotel's history has housed more talent in NYC than any other structure still in existence. Beautifully woven together by Mr. Colby, The Algonquin Kid-The Musical combines both his personal journey as a child with original material by Mr. Colby in addition to a slew of musical favorites from the American Songbook. This weave helps tell the story of his life growing up in the glory days at this incredible Hotel. The Algonquin Hotel was owned by Mr. Colby's Grandparents, Ben & Mary Bodne from 1946-1987.

Both sides of this versatile performer can be seen onstage in his upcoming Act of a Lifetime - Cheaper Than Therapy at Manhattan's premier cabaret club, Don't Tell Mama. Accompanied by music director Christopher Howatt, Al will regale audiences with stories and anecdotes from his career as an actor and performer, drawing on standards from the stage and screen to tell his story.

Tonight, November 14, Music Director LARRY RACHLEFF and the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Leonard Bernstein's beloved West Side Story Symphonic Dances. Electric violinist TRACY SILVERMAN will make his Philharmonic debut with Seeing is Believing by Nico Muhly, a Providence native. The program also features Ravel'sAlborada del Gracioso and Debussy's La Mer, all beginning at 8:00 pm at Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Providence. The concert is endowed by the Collis family, and Guest Artist Sponsors are Marjorie and Robert Catanzaro. Louise Kerz Hirschfeld, president of the Al Hirschfeld Foundation, and David Leopold, Creative Director of the Al Hirschfeld Foundation, will discuss the life and work of this original and iconic artist, and the stories behind his drawings.
