After nearly 20 years leading the internationally focused Lincoln Center Festival, Director Nigel Redden announced today that the 2017 Festival will be his last. He will step down in September to concentrate on the artistic expansion of the annual Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston, South Carolina, where he serves as general director, as well as other global artistic projects.

The Public Theater presents the New York Premiere of PARTY PEOPLE by UNIVERSES (Steven Sapp, Mildred Ruiz-Sapp, and William Ruiz a.k.a Ninja). Developed and directed by Liesl Tommy with choreography by Millicent Johnnie, PARTY PEOPLE began performances on November 1 and runs through Sunday, December 4, with an official press opening tonight, November 15.

Two years after his Bay Area debut directing Cutting Ball's explosive production of Ubu Roi, Yury Urnov returns this winter to tackle Henrik Ibsen's masterpiece, Hedda Gabler, translated by Paul Walsh. Featured in the title role is Britney Frazier, who last performed at Cutting Ball in Superheroes in 2014. Hedda Gabler opens in previews on January 19 and runs through February 26, 2017. In Shakespeare's 400th anniversary year, Cheek by Jowl is delighted to announce that Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod will return to the French language with a new production of Shakespeare's Pericles opening in Paris and then going on to perform in Europe in 2018. This follows their acclaimed French language production of Ubu Roi which performed worldwide from 2013- 2015.

DTC artistic director Kevin Moriarty directs the Kennedy Center Jean Kennedy Smith Playwriting Award-winning play, which is choreographed by founder and artistic director of Dark Circles Contemporary Dance Joshua L. Peugh. Colossal begins with previews tonight, April 2 with a Pay-What-You-Can performance and runs through Sunday, May 3.

Tony Award-winning comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike will feature Resident Actor Jeffrey Bean as Vanya, Sharon Lockwood returning to the Alley as Sonia, Alley Artist Josie de Guzman returning as Masha, and Resident Actor Jay Sullivan as Spike. Rounding out the cast and making their Alley debuts are Rachael Holmes as Cassandra and Sarah Nealis as Nina. Jonathan Moscone, Artistic Director of California Shakespeare Theater, helms the production and returns after having directed the Alley's 2011 production of Amadeus.
