In Not a Genuine Black Man, Copeland recounts his story of growing up black in the 1970s in San Leandro, California, a city once nationally known as one of the most racist in America. With wit and heartfelt passion, he explores the themes of racial identity and, ultimately, belonging. 'Very funny,' raves the San Francisco Chronicle. 'Copeland is a winning, magnetic performer. More than that, he's got an important tale to tell!' SITI Company's Board of Directors announces that Executive Director Megan Wanlass will step down from the Company following 19 years of transformational service. Wanlass joined SITI as Stage Manager in 1995, eventually becoming Managing Director and then Executive Director in 2000. During her tenure, SITI grew into a fiscally stable and internationally renowned theater ensemble. Wanlass helped to create over 35 productions, which premiered in or toured to 88 cities, 32 states and 19 countries. Most recently, she played a significant role in the successful launch of SITI's new year-round Conservatory. Wanlass and her family are relocating to the Los Angeles area where she will serve as Managing Director for Cornerstone Theater Company.

Initiated by Erik Schark, under the guidance and advice of Stephanie Riso - co-founder of Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre currently in its 17th season, and Cabaret Pittsburgh which operated 2004-2008, the group is now led by Stephanie Riso with managing leadership by Jeanne Drennan and the advisory role now filled by Steve Cuden, author of the new book Beating Broadway: How to Create Stories for Musicals That Get Standing Ovations.

Curated by Hirano, a former Japan Society Film Program Director, the series highlights five seminal Japanese directors, who first became known throughout the world through Richie's work. Co-presented with The Japan Foundation, the series launches with Akira Kurosawa's High and Low (October 18); continuing with Kenji Mizoguchi's The Life of Oharu(November 16); Yasujiro Ozu's Equinox Flower (December 12), screening on Ozu's birthday and the 50th anniversary of his death; Mitsuo Yanagimachi's Himatsuri (January 24), unavailable on DVD; and Hirokazu Kore-eda's After Life (February 19), marking the one-year anniversary of Richie's death.
