Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats, the second longest-running Broadway musical (only surpassed by Lloyd Webber's own 'The Phantom of the Opera'), and fourth longest-running West End musical, returns in high definition and digital sound to Great Performances where it had its 1998 world television premiere. The special encore presentation will air Friday, November 21 at 9 p.m. ET on PBS (check local listings) as part of the PBS Arts Fall Festival.

Manhattan Theatre Club's American premiere of The Father, the new play by Molière Award winner Florian Zeller, with a translation by two-time Tony Award winner Christopher Hampton (Sunset Boulevard, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, God of Carnage) and directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes (Doubt, Outside Mullingar, City of Conversation) will extend by one week at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). The limited engagement, which opened on April 14 to critical raves, has been extended through Sunday, June 19.

It was announced today that the new Broadway musical Doctor Zhivago, which opened at the Broadway Theatre on April 21st, 2015, will record its cast album on Thursday, May 28th, 2015. Doctor Zhivago authors include composer Lucy Simon (The Secret Garden), lyricists Michael Korie (Grey Gardens) and Amy Powers (the two multi-platinum Sunset Boulevard hits) and book writer Michael Weller (screenwriter for Hair and Ragtime). The Broadway cast recording will be released by Broadway Records on July 31st, 2015 and can be pre-ordered by visiting http://www.broadwayrecords.com/cds/doctorzhivago.

Rick Crom's Newsical at Upstairs at Studio 54 (located at 254 West 54th Street between 8th and Broadway) announces the collaboration between celebrity buzz buff Michael Musto and Newsical creator Rick Crom. Every month, Musto will tip Crom off to his imminent scoops, complete with extra salacious details when applicable. Crom, in a frenzy, will then churn out what is essentially a musicalized version of the column, with a few more added endowments. The song will be called 'The Michael Musto Song', and will premiere at the Wednesday, March 2nd performance. Each new 'Musto Song' will premiere on the first Wednesday of every month.
