Celebration Theatre at the Lex in association with Nicholas Caprio, Michael C. Kricfalusi, Todd Milliner and Jack Morrissey presents, under the artistic direction of Michael Matthews & Michael A. Shepperd, the West Coast premiere of THE BOY FROM OZ, music and lyrics by Peter Allen, book by Martin Sherman, original book by Nick Enright, choreography by Janet Roston, musical direction by Bryan Blaskie, produced by Andrew Carlberg and directed by Celebration Theatre co-artistic director Michael A. Shepperd. THE BOY FROM OZ will begin previews on Friday, April 22 at 8pm; will open on Friday, April 29 at 8pm and perform through Sunday, June 19 at the Celebration Theatre's new home, Celebration at the Lex Theatre, 6760 Lexington Ave. in Los Angeles.

Oxford Playhouse to Present World Premiere of PETER PAN IN SCARLET, July 25

This summer marks the return of the Oxford Playhouse to middle scale producing with the world premiere of the stage adaptation of Peter Pan in Scarlet, the best-selling official sequel to JM Barrie's Peter Pan, written by Carnegie Medal and three times Whitbread Children's Book Award winner Geraldine McCaughrean. The book was originally commissioned by Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity to whom Barrie gifted all rights to the character and original writings in 1929. The novel will be brought thrillingly to life by director and adapter Theresa Heskins, Artistic Director of the New Vic Theatre, and an award-winning team including Aerial Director, Vicki Amedume, Artistic Director of circus theatre company Upswing, composer and Musical Director, James Atherton and designer Liz Cooke.

Today in 1991, the second Broadway revival of Peter Pan opened at the MInskoff Theatre, where it ran for 48 performances. Peter Pan is a musical adaptation of J. M. Barrie's 1904 play Peter Pan and Barrie's own novelization of it, Peter and Wendy. The music is mostly by Mark 'Moose' Charlap, with additional music by Jule Styne, and most of the lyrics were written by Carolyn Leigh, with additional lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green. The original 1954 Broadway production, starring Mary Martin as Peter and Cyril Ritchard as Captain Hook, earned Tony Awards for both stars.
