One could say the ocean is in Heather Nova's blood, as the multi-platinum singer-songwriter's lineage can be traced back nearly two centuries to the mid-Atlantic island of Bermuda, so it comes as no surprise that she's often used aquatic metaphors to relay her innermost feelings through her music.

The Apollo Theater Salon Series in partnership with Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre (NBT) will present WiLDFLOWER, the staged concert reading of the full-length musical with book, music and lyrics by Jason Michael Webb and Lelund Durond Thompson. The performance, directed by Logan Vaughn and starring Broadway stars Tshidi Manye (The Lion King) and Quentin Earl Darrington (Once on this Island), will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 26, and Saturday, April 27, on the Apollo Theater Soundstage.

Through its storytelling, Marshwood High School's Spring Musical, Once on This Island explores universal issues which affect us all. Subjects such as love, anger, forgiveness, faith, maturity and death. The show is based on the ideas of prejudice and the separation of people because of their differences. It embraces the idea of looking past prejudice and fighting against inequality among people.

The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today unveiled its feature film lineup. Continuing its tradition of elevating exceptional storytelling rooted in today's global film communities, the 18th annual Festival will showcase debut works from emerging talent and new works from notable filmmakers. The program includes discoveries, comedies, music-centered, political and social films. The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 24 - May 5.

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) has added three performances to its highly anticipated upcoming production of Birdy, adapted by Naomi Wallace from the novel by William Wharton, and directed by Steven Maler. BroadwayWorld has learned that Michelle Williams has been advised by her doctors to take a leave of absence from performing. Lea Salonga, who originated the role in this production will play Erzulie from December 27 through its final performance on January 6.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Paradise Square: An American Musical. Music by Jason Howland and Larry Kirwan, with lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and based on the songs of Stephen Foster. Paradise Square is produced by special arrangement with Garth H.
