Due to popular demand, Act II Playhouse is extending its production of the classic Broadway musical My Fair Lady, directed by Bud Martin, until Sunday, June 17. The production, now running, has been heralded by the press and public.

Act II Playhouse concludes its 2011/12 season with the classic Broadway musical My Fair Lady, directed and reimagined for the theatre's intimate venue and a small ensemble cast by Producing Artistic Director Bud Martin. The classic musical begins April 24 and runs through May 20.

Michael Riedel reports in today's New York Post that Lincoln Center Theater 'wants the Beaumont for its next big production - a revival of THE KING AND I starring Kelli O'Hara.' BroadwayWorld.com first reported back in 2011 that the theatre was considering a Bartlett Sher helmed revival of the classic show. My Fair Lady is a musical based upon George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion and with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. The story concerns Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower girl who takes speech lessons from professor Henry Higgins, a phoneticist, so that she may pass as a well born lady. The musical's 1956 Broadway production was a hit, setting what was then the record for the longest run of any major musical theatre production in history. It was followed by a hit London production, a popular film version, and numerous revivals. The English-born and Canadian-based director and former Stratford Festival Artistic Director Robin Phillips makes his Arena Stage debut to direct his fourth production of this Pulitzer Prize-winning play in a theatrical career spanning more than 50 years.
