A charming love story, magical illusions and memorable music will bring South Coast Repertory's 2012-13 season to a close with the world's longest-running musical, The Fantasticks by Tom Jones, book and lyrics, and Harvey Schmidt, music. MONEY Will Play 50th Anniversary Production at Theatre Row

Stranger Productions presents the 50th Anniversary production of MONEY, a musical with book and lyrics by David Axlerod and Tom Whedon, and music by Sam Pottle. This is the first professional NYC production of MONEY since its 1963 premiere at the Upstairs at the Downstairs, a bistro/theatre on W. 56th St. that, with MONEY, added scripted musicals to what had previously been a steady performance diet of revues and cabaret presentations. This first production ran for a solid 214 performances. Gerald Moshell directs a cast of four, including Robin Rightmyer, Meg Kiley Smith, David Andrew Laws and Logan Keeler. MONEY will run at the Studio Theatre on Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street, NYC for fifteen performances from May 31-June 16, 2013.

George Dvorsky Replaces Richard Roland as 'El Gallo' in THE FANTASTICKS

George Dvorsky, who most recently starred in the critically acclaimed revival of CLOSER THAN EVER at the York Theater has joined the cast of The Fantasticks in the role of the narrator El Gallo, as of yesterday, January 21. He replaces actor Richard Roland.

The Gettysburg Community Theatre will kick off their new 2013 season with the musical The Fantasticks (yes that is the way the show title is spelled), which is the world's longest running show. It will play at GCT located at 49 York Street within the first block of Lincoln Square in downtown Gettysburg January 25 and 26 at 7pm and January 26 and 27 at 2pm. Tickets are $15 reserved seating and include a wine reception. Happy Birthday Jerry Orbach! Jerry Orbach, best known for his starring role as wisecracking Detective Lennie Briscoe in the long-running television series 'Law & Order,' was also an accomplished Tony Award-winning Broadway and Off-Broadway actor. His theatre career began in 1960 as El Gallo in the original Off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks. He later went on to star on Broadway in such musicals as 42nd Street, Chicago (Tony Award nomination), Guys and Dolls (Tony Award nomination) and Promises, Promises which earned him the 1969 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical.

John Davidson, the celebrated television, theater and film actor who starred as Matt in the 1964 Hallmark Hall of Fame version of THE FANTASTICKS and recently performed for a limited engagement in the Off-Broadway production as Henry, The Old Actor, will return to the cast on July 30 in that same role.

In 1966 the Hallmark Hall of Fame presented a television adaptation of Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt's Off Broadway musical THE FANTASTICKS. Ricardo Montalban appeared as El Gallo and Bert Lahr and Stanley Holloway were the two fathers. The young lovers were played by Broadway's favorite ingenue, Susan Watson, and a clean-cut young man named John Davidson who had made a strong impression on Broadway audiences as Lahr's son in the musical FOXY.
