In London’s Jewish East End during the Bltizkrieg, The Jewish Blitzstein family’s mother owns a pickled herring stall that adjoins the cockney Locke family’s father’s fruit stall. The two are at odds. But the Bltizstein’s son falls in love with the Locke’s daughter (who is blinded during an air raid). Harry Blitzstein deserts the army. And Mrs. Blitzstein is nearly killed in an air raid.

OWN Announces Additional Cast for Ava DuVernay's CHERISH THE DAY

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today the directorial lineup and additional casting for the first installment of the anticipated new romantic anthology drama “Cherish the Day,” created and executive produced by Emmy® winner/Academy Award®-nominee Ava DuVernay (“Queen Sugar,” “When They See Us”). The series from Warner Horizon Scripted Television added Michael Beach, Anne-Marie Johnson and Kellee Stewart in recurring roles. They join previously announced series regulars Xosha Roquemore, Alano Miller and legendary Emmy®-winning actress Cicely Tyson. The DuVernay led series recently announced it achieved full gender parity with a production crew of over 50% women, including 18 female department heads.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley presents the internationally-acclaimed The Pianist of Willesden Lane. Starring celebrated pianist Mona Golabek, this triumphant tour de force recounts the inspiring true story of Golabek's mother, Lisa Jura, a young Jewish musician. Created and directed by TheatreWorks favorite Hershey Felder, this musical journey follows Jura's escape from Nazi-occupied Austria via the Kindertransport, and her life at a children's home on Willesden Lane in London, where she later survived the London Blitz. Combining vivid storytelling and masterful performances of classics by Bach, Beethoven, and Rachmaninoff, The Pianist of Willesden Lane is a one-woman show that illustrates how music can bring light and hope to even the darkest of times.

Pray For Sleep Announce 'Scream Back' Mental Health Program

Columbus, OH-based hard rock group PRAY FOR SLEEP are using their music to raise awareness for mental and behavioral health issues plaguing our youth. The band, who range from ages 19-22, have collaborated with Nationwide Children's Hospital's On Our Sleeves movement, Columbus active rock radio station 99.7 The Blitz (WRKZ) and SJC Custom Drums to launch their own mental health program, SCREAM BACK.

BLITZ VEGA (featuring Andy Rourke of The Smiths and KAV, formerly of Happy Mondays) are treating their fans this Halloween with a brand new single, 'LA Vampire.' Following this week's video release for 'Lost and Found,' 'LA Vampire' is driven by a non-stop psychedelic guitar riff, while KAV sings about the dangers of soul suckers preying on the weak. This track adds another sure-fire hit to the band's steadily growing catalog.
