Stan Zimmerman, director of the LatinX production of "The Diary of Anne Frank", will moderate a special Talk Back immediately following the Friday February 22 performance at 8PM.  His special guest will be Holocaust survivor Gabriella Karin.

NYU Skirball will present the North American premiere of Milo Rau's & CAMPO's Five Easy Pieces, running March 7 - March 9, 2019 at NYU Skirball. Five Easy Pieces presents the story of the notorious child killer Marc Dutroux, whose 2004 trial caused a national scandal in Belgium.  Dutroux's story is told by seven children between the ages of 8 - 14 who take on the roles of several protagonists involved with the case. It will be presented in Flemish, with English supertitles.    

The San Francisco International Arts Festival (SFIAF) is pleased to reveal the full schedule of performances for the 2019 Festival that will run from May 23 - June 2 and have as a central theme The Path to Democracy. As the dark clouds of nationalism and fascism re-assert themselves on the global stage, SFIAF looks at some of the struggles for democracy past and present and how they manifest themselves in different cultures. Edward R. Matthews, CEO of ADAPT Community Network, announced its 2019 ADAPT Leadership Awards Gala to take place on Thursday, March 14th, at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. The event will be hosted by Cara Buono, co‐star of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, and Emmy‐ nominee for her role on Mad Men. The awards honor the accomplishments of extraordinary individuals and corporations who have made an impact on people with disabilities and have inspired others through their professional and charitable endeavors. The gala benefits the important ongoing programs and services of ADAPT Community Network. This year's honorees will be announced next month.

This March, the more than 20 organizations in eleven cities nationwide that compose the Poetry Coalition will launch “What Is It, Then, Between Us?: Poetry & Democracy,” the coalition's third annual programming initiative. For this collaborative effort, organizations will offer a range of events and publications that speak to this timely theme. The Museum of Jewish Heritage A Living Memorial to the Holocaust today announced plans to present the most comprehensive Holocaust exhibition about Auschwitz ever exhibited in North America. Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away. is produced in partnership with the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Poland and the international exhibition firm Musealia. The groundbreaking exhibition was curated by an international team of experts led by historian Dr. Robert Jan van Pelt. It will open in New York City on May 8, 2019 and run through January 3, 2020.

Make a joyful noise! Today, January 8, Manhattan Theatre Club's Broadway premiere of Choir Boy, written by Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney and directed by Drama Desk Award nominee Trip Cullman, opens at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

Writers Theatre opens its 13th annual tour of The MLK Project: The Fight for Civil Rights, written by Yolanda Androzzo, directed by Tasia A. Jones and featuring Angela Alise. A special Martin Luther King, Jr. Day public performance will take place at 10:30am on January 21 at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N Clark Street in Chicago.  The kickoff event also includes a post-show community discussion. The event is free and open to the public, and audience members will also receive free museum admission for the remainder of the day.

The Academy of American Poets is pleased to announce that Joy Harjo and Natasha Trethewey have been named its newest Chancellors, an honorary position that has been held by some of the most distinguished poets in the United States, including W. H. Auden, John Ashbery, Elizabeth Bishop, Lucille Clifton, Yusef Komunyakaa, Adrienne Rich, and Mark Strand. Poets elected to the Board of Chancellors become an important part of the history of Academy of American Poets and as of 2019, only 115 poets have been elected to this board since it was formed in 1946.
