This November, director Thomas Ostermeier and Schaubuhne Berlin return to St. Ann's Warehouse with Edouard Louis' stunning autobiographical memoir History of Violence. Through the fractured recall of Édouard, his sister, police, and doctors, the "brave and ambitious" (The Guardian) book and play reconstruct the trauma of a desire-filled encounter turned violent. A layered retelling that is both devastating and funny, the production uncovers deeply rooted societal racism, homophobia, and rage unbridled under obscure, repressive power structures until all that remains is a nuanced, closely guarded memory.

NYU Skirball will present the North American premiere of Milo Rau's & CAMPO's Five Easy Pieces, running March 7 - March 9, 2019 at NYU Skirball. Five Easy Pieces presents the story of the notorious child killer Marc Dutroux, whose 2004 trial caused a national scandal in Belgium. Dutroux's story is told by seven children between the ages of 8 - 14 who take on the roles of several protagonists involved with the case. It will be presented in Flemish, with English supertitles.

This March, the more than 20 organizations in eleven cities nationwide that compose the Poetry Coalition will launch “What Is It, Then, Between Us?: Poetry & Democracy,” the coalition's third annual programming initiative. The Museum of Jewish Heritage A Living Memorial to the Holocaust today announced plans to present the most comprehensive Holocaust exhibition about Auschwitz ever exhibited in North America. Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away. is produced in partnership with the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Poland and the international exhibition firm Musealia. The groundbreaking exhibition was curated by an international team of experts led by historian Dr. Robert Jan van Pelt. It will open in New York City on May 8, 2019 and run through January 3, 2020.

The Academy of American Poets is pleased to announce that Joy Harjo and Natasha Trethewey have been named its newest Chancellors, an honorary position that has been held by some of the most distinguished poets in the United States, including W. H. Auden, John Ashbery, Elizabeth Bishop, Lucille Clifton, Yusef Komunyakaa, Adrienne Rich, and Mark Strand. Poets elected to the Board of Chancellors become an important part of the history of Academy of American Poets and as of 2019, only 115 poets have been elected to this board since it was formed in 1946.
