Ibsen's A Doll's House adapted by Thornton Wilder, which premiered on Broadway in 1937, plays alongside August Strindberg's The Father, in a new version in English by Scottish author David Greig (Strindberg's Creditors at BAM) commissioned by TFANA. Writing The Father in response to A Doll's House, Strindberg offers his own startling vision of marriage and the battle of the sexes.

The new musical will be co-directed by two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro and four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Tony nominee Sergio Trujillo. In addition to the class of 2016 Tony Nominees, the star-studded evening featured appearances by Cate Blanchett, Claire Danes, Common, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Glenn Close, Josh Groban, Jake Gyllenhaal, Neil Patrick Harris, Sean Hayes, James Earl Jones, Daniel Dae Kim, Carole King, Diane Lane, Nathan Lane, Angela Lansbury, Lucy Liu, Bebe Neuwirth, Saoirse Ronan, Keri Russell, Meg Ryan, Barbra Streisand, Oprah Winfrey and many more. Actor's Express announces its 29th Season including two Tony Award winners and three Atlanta premieres. The season opens July 30 with a modern take on Stephen Sondheim's game-changing musical Company directed by Actor's Express Artistic Director Freddie Ashley (Sweeney Todd, Rent). In the fall, Actor's Express will produce the Atlanta premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' raucous dark comedy Appropriate, a standout at the 2013 Humana Festival of New American Plays. A visceral new production of Arthur Miller's classic American drama The Crucible kicks off 2017 followed by the Atlanta premiere of The Legend of Georgia McBride by Matthew Lopez, a music-filled comedy about an Elvis impersonator turned drag queen. The season will close with the Pulitzer Prize finalist Father Comes Home from the Wars (Parts 1, 2 & 3), Suzan-Lori Parks' epic trilogy about a slave's journey to freedom during the Civil War.
