The Fisher Center at Bard has added a seventh performance (June 29 at 7:30 pm) to its world premiere production of Illinois, a music-theater work based on Sufjan Stevens’ acclaimed album of the same name.

Cynthia Erivo will star in a film adaptation of Prima Facie. Prima Facie is currently playing on Broadway starring Jodie Comer.

Music of Curiosities, a years long event series at Coney Island Sideshow, will be kicking off their new season of unique and out there events on May 12, with the 100TH ANNUAL COMEDY MUSIC FRIENDSHIP AWARDS.

Band members including Snarky Puppy guitarists Chris McQueen and Bob Lanzetti and South Florida raised-lap steel player Roosevelt Collier had previously recorded remotely, absorbing and embellishing the music sent to them in files by co-writers Tirolien and League, who was often elsewhere with other projects.

The musical may have many flaws, but this is one stellar production of it featuring so many fabulously talented teens.

Playwrights Horizons will present the New York premiere of Bruce Norris’s Downstate, directed by Pam MacKinnon, October 28–December 11 (opening November 15). This provocative work surrounds a registered address in downstate Illinois, where four men convicted of sex crimes share a group home, living out their days post-incarceration.

The Los Angeles premiere of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! directed by Daniel Fish opens Thursday, September 15 at 8 p.m. at Center Theatre Group / Ahmanson Theatre. The tour will mark the first time a First-Class Equity production of Oklahoma! has toured North America in more than 40 years. This bold interpretation will play through October 16.
