La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its world-premiere production of The Squirrels, by Tony Award nominee Robert Askins (Hand to God), directed by 2017 Tony Award winner and La Jolla Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley, running June 5 - July 8.

The 72nd Annual Tony Award Nominations will be announced tomorrow, May 1, from the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. La Jolla Playhouse announces that married playwrights Mike Lew and Rehana Lew Mirza have been named the Playhouse's newest Artists-in-Residence beginning in April, 2018. During their residency, they plan to continue work on their Playhouse-commissioned trilogy: The Colonialism Project, as well as a new musical, Bhangin' It.

The Board of Trustees of La Jolla Playhouse announced today the appointment of Debby Buchholz as the Playhouse's new Managing Director. Buchholz has served as the Playhouse's General Manager since 2002 and will begin her duties in this new role on May 1.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee met on April 12 for the third time this season to decide the eligibility of Broadway productions for the American Theatre Wing's 2018 Tony Awards®, presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.
