Multi-platinum-selling recording artist and entertainer, Josh Groban, announced today a Summer 2016 tour in support of his massively successful albumStages. JOSH GROBAN: ON STAGE, produced by Live Nation, kicks off on July 15, 2016 in New Orleans, LA and will hit more than 20 cities around the country including dates in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit and more. Sarah McLachlan will join Josh Groban as a special guest on select dates during the tour.

Cortland Repertory Theatre, one of New York State's longest running professional summer theatres, is announcing their 45th annual season for the summer of 2016. "We're absolutely thrilled to be bringing six CRT premieres in this coming season, including three regional debuts." Producing Artistic Director Kerby Thompson says. 

Signature Theatre has announced the cast of WEST SIDE STORY, directed by Signature Associate Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner (Signature's Sunday in the Park with George, Cabaret). The musical, a collaboration of music, dance and theater giants Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Jerome Robbins and Arthur Laurents, is considered by some to be one of the greatest musicals of all time. WEST SIDE STORY will run from December 8 - January 24 in Signature Theatre's intimate MAX Theatre.

Norfolk & Norwich Festival, one of the biggest arts festivals in the UK, has today announced the first shows of its 2016 Festival. With more to be announced, highlights for 2016 so far include: a ground-breaking UK Premiere from contemporary circus cabaret troupe Race Horse Company; the World Premiere of a major new commission from one of the UK's foremost young composers - Kemal Yusuf; excerpts from electro-acoustic polymath Max Richter's intensive investigation in the power of the human brain - Sleep; Aurelien Bory's industrial robot's dance with acrobats Sans Objet; Twenty Feet From Stardom's Lisa Fischer's first ever solo UK concert; an epic staging of Mahler's Symphony of a Thousand by Norwich Philharmonic and a revival of Rona Munro's critically acclaimed The James Plays. The festival runs 13 - 29 May 2016 with full line up still to be announced.

Producers Daniel Nardicio and Andy Brattain will honor Edith Piaf, the iconic French songstress on her actual 100th Birthday with PIAF: A CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION with stars from Broadway, London's West End, Jazz, Cabaret and Rock 'n' Roll. Starring Elaine Paige, Christine Ebersole, Marilyn Maye, Vivian Reed, Little Annie, Gay Marshall, Molly Pope, Amber Martin, Aaron Weinstein and Meow Meow, the concert will take place on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 8:00 PM at The Town Hall(123 West 43rd Street).

FOX's GREASE: LIVE is practically packed with Broadway talent. And the latest to join the company, according to Variety, is A CHORUS LINE's Mario Lopez. The SAVED BY THE BELL alum will play the smooth talking host of Rydell High's sock hop, 'Vince Fontaine'.

Coachella Valley Repertory (CVRep) in Rancho Mirage, California, starts its 2015-16 season on October 28th with the world premiere of HAPPY HOUR, written by George Eastman, starring Gavin MacLeod and John Hawkinson, and directed by CVRep's artistic director, Ron Celona.

 Oscar-winning and Emmy-nominated Production Designer Patrizia von Brandenstein will receive the Art Directors Guild's Lifetime Achievement Award at the 20th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards on January 31, 2016 at a black-tie ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The announcement was made today by Marcia Hinds, ADG Council Chair, and James Pearse Connelly, ADG Award's Producer.

Disney Theatrical Productions will welcome six new principal cast members to the North American tour of Disney's NEWSIES: Joey Barreiro as 'Jack Kelly,' Morgan Keene as 'Katherine,' Aisha de Haas as 'Medda Larkin,' Stephen Michael Langton as 'Davey' and John Michael Pitera and Ethan Steiner alternating the role of 'Les.'  These new cast members, aside from Pitera, will begin performances at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford on Tuesday, October 13.  Pitera will debut at the Providence Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, October 20.

Seattle Repertory Theatre's 2015-2016 season was announced today by Acting Artistic Director Braden Abraham. The season is headlined by the new musical Come from Away, Ayad Akhtar's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Disgraced and the world premiere of R. Hamilton Wright's Sherlock Holmes and the American Problem.

Vermont's Weston Playhouse Theatre Company is turning 80, and in anticipation of a remarkable 2-year celebration, it has unveiled the plans for its 2016 MainStage season in American Theatre magazine. Audiences can expect a line-up distinguished by groundbreaking partnerships, collaborations with major stars, and the Vermont Premiere of one of Broadway's longest-running hits. The focus of IN YOUR ARMS in on telling a story through dance, and the show features an incredible line-up of performers who do just that. The Old Globe opens its 2015-2016 Season with IN YOUR ARMS, a World Premiere dance-theatre musical featuring direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies, Godspell, Lincoln Center Theater's The King and I and South Pacific) and original music by Tony Award winner Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once on This Island; two-time Oscar nominee for Anastasia). The production begins tonight, September 16, with an opening slated for September 24, and runs through October 25, 2015.

Spend A Very Special Evening with Josh Groban. The internationally renowned singer, songwriter, and actor's baritone voice has taken the world by storm ever since his double-platinum debut self-titled album in 2001. His follow-up album "Closer" went 5-times platinum and the trend continues to this day. His tour, Stages, at the Van Wezel on February 28, 2016, is a unique musical event featuring songs from the world's greatest musicals. In serendipitous fashion, Josh Groban is also an avid arts education philanthropist, making him the perfect star for the Van Wezel Foundation Gala which helps support the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, its educational initiatives and programing. Tickets will go on sale September 19, 2015 @ 10am.

Is Josh Groban Broadway-bound? According to a recent interview with AJC, he'd like to be. When the recording artist was asked if he'd consider doinng a Broadway show, he responded:

TheatreWorks Florida is known throughout the Orlando theater scene for putting on hit productions like Legally Blonde in 2012, Sweeney Todd in 2014, and Nunsense in 2013. If you've seen any of those shows you know that the quality of theater is best in the business. This year, TheatreWorks Florida was awarded grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and United Arts of Central Florida. These grants will support their community outreach program TheatreCares, which brings full-quality productions to education locations that may not otherwise be able to experience live theater.

Just yesterday, Tony Yazbeck was honored at the legendary Sardi's Restaurant with his very own portrait.Yazbeck earned 2015 Tony Award, Drama League Award and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations as well as the 2015 Astaire Award, for his portrayal of 'Gabey' in the hit Broadway revival of ON THE TOWN. His other Broadway credits include Chicago (Billy Flynn), Irving Berlin's White Christmas (Phil Davis), Gypsywith Patti LuPone (Tulsa, Outer Critics Circle nom.), A Chorus Line (Al), Oklahoma!, Never Gonna Dance, and Gypsy with Tyne Daly.

Sometimes it seems there is so much theater happening that it's difficult to keep track of it all. From personal experience, despite all the datebooks, smart phones, tablets, desktop computers and laptops...it's hard to keep everything straight in this wacky business of the show. Thus, we are happy to present a new feature: The Nashville Theater Calendar, a comprehensive - maybe even exhaustive (lord knows we're exhausted from putting it together, gathering all the info from all over the interwebs!) - listing of theatrical openings for the 2015/16 season. We'll update the calendar every Monday, clearing out the shows that have closed and adding additional information on the shows still to come. Something's missing?
