Shakespeare’s lush tale of the ecstasies of love and loss, Midsummer tosses four lovers into the strangest, most magical night of their lives. In the woods of Athens, they dive into a world ruled by the whims of passion, play, and jealousy—and none of them come out unchanged. Directed by Bedlam Theater’s innovative Eric Tucker, five versatile actors will live out Bottom’s fantasy of playing all the roles in this celebration of the transformative and intoxicating power of love.

Co-produced with HUDSON VALLEY SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL, and performed in repertory with THE CHAIRS.

Second Stage Theatre has announced two New York Premiere productions for its upcoming 37th season.  The season will kick off in fall 2015 with the New York Premiere production of Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews' new musical, INVISIBLE THREAD (previously titled Witness Uganda), in association with American Repertory Theater, directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus (Finding Neverland, Pippin).  The season will continue in early 2016 with the New York premiere of Lydia R. Diamond's (Stick Fly) critically acclaimed play, SMART PEOPLE, directed by Tony Award Winner Kenny Leon (Fences, A Raisin in the Sun, Stick Fly). Two additional productions remain to be announced. 

N.C. Symphony Performs A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM This Weekend

North Carolina Symphony Music Director Grant Llewellyn will lead the orchestra, members of UNC-Chapel Hill's Carolina Choir, and an outstanding cast of actors, directed by University of North Carolina School of the Arts Dean of Drama Carl Forsman, in a theatrical / symphonic presentation of William Shakespeare's most popular comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream. The performances will take place tonight, May 7, at 7:30 p.m., in Memorial Hall on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and again on Friday and Saturday, May 8-9, at 8 p.m., in Meymandi Concert Hall in downtown Raleigh.

59E59 Theaters will welcome acclaimed actor Edward Petherbridge to Brits Off Broadway in MY PERFECT MIND, created by Told by an Idiot, written by Kathryn Hunter, Paul Hunter and Edward Petherbridge, directed by Kathryn Hunter. Produced by Told by an Idiot, Young Vic, and Theatre Royal Plymouth, MY PERFECT MIND begins performances on Wednesday, June 10 for a limited engagement through Sunday, June 28.  Press opening is Tuesday, June 16 at 7 PM.  The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7 PM; Friday at 8 PM; Saturday at 2 PM & 8 PM; and Sunday at 3 PM. The first half of Evening Star Productions' second season concluded on May 3rd after a sold out weekend of The Addams Family - A New Musical Comedy at Sol Theatre in Boca Raton. Their production of The Last Five Years will run at Sol from July 16 - August 2nd, and Bug by Tracy Letts will run from August 12th - 29th at Infinite Abyss in Ft. Lauderdale. And Sol Children Theatre, also housed at Sol Theatre, will present the innovative musical comedy The Mystery of Edwin Drood (June 12-28); Thumbelina (August 27 - September 6) will close out their season.

Jeffrey Kahane to Lead World Premiere by Ted Hearne for LA Chamber Orchestra

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, led by Music Director Jeffrey Kahane, concludes its 46th season with a world premiere by Ted Hearne, a composer hailed for his 'off beat imagination' (New Music Box) whose new work, Respirator, culminates the Orchestra's unique 'Sound Investment' commissioning program on Saturday, May 16, 2015, 8 pm, at Glendale's Alex Theatre, and Sunday, May 17, 2015, 7 pm, at UCLA's Royce Hall. The concert also features Jonathan Biss, 'one of the most accomplished pianists of the younger generation' (BBC Music Magazine), who performs Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major. In addition, Kahane conducts Mendelssohn's Nocturne & Scherzo, evocative incidental music from A Midsummer Night's Dream; as well as Mendelssohn's exuberant Symphony No. 4 in A major, 'Italian.' Concert Preludes, pre-concert talks providing insights into the program's music and artists held one hour before curtain and free for ticket holders, feature Kahane in conversation with Hearne. After the performance, ticket holders are invited to mingle with friends and musicians at an after-party in the lobby with complimentary drinks and appetizers.

In this taut 2013 theatrical adaptation of Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela's award winning-book, the apartheid regime's most notorious assassin and head of its death squad, Eugene de Kock (played by Matthew Marsh), sits opposite psychologist Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela (played Noma Dumezweni) in Pretoria Central Prison in 1997. Gobodo-Madikizela is a member of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission determined to understand his actions. She questions de Kock, who is sentenced to two life terms plus 212 years for crimes against humanity, murder, conspiracy to murder, attempted murder, assault, kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, and fraud.

The Drama League have announced the exceptional stage directors who have been selected as the 2015 Directing Fellows of The Drama League Directors Project: Paul Bedard, Estefania Fadul, Aneesha Kudtarkar, Emily Lyon, Brad Raimondo, Austin Regan, Daniel Rogers, Annie Tippe, Sarah Wansley and Brandon Woolf. In addition, an eleventh fellow has been selected for a brand-new fellowship program, which will be revealed during the 81st Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony, which will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway).
