Shakespeare’s lush tale of the ecstasies of love and loss, Midsummer tosses four lovers into the strangest, most magical night of their lives. In the woods of Athens, they dive into a world ruled by the whims of passion, play, and jealousy—and none of them come out unchanged. Directed by Bedlam Theater’s innovative Eric Tucker, five versatile actors will live out Bottom’s fantasy of playing all the roles in this celebration of the transformative and intoxicating power of love.
Co-produced with HUDSON VALLEY SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL, and performed in repertory with THE CHAIRS.
The Hole in the Wall Theater (HITW) in New Britain, will present a one-hour adaptation of William Shakespeare's classic, A Midsummer Night's Dream, by Bill Arnold as the final show of the 2015-2016 season. Performances run Fridays & Saturdays July 15th through August 6th at 8:00pm with a Sunday matinee on July 24th at 2:00pm. A Midsummer Night's Dream is directed by Kelley Mountzoures (Plainville). Today, Split Second Productions and Berkeley Castle, have announced they are going to release 50 extra tickets for each performance of A Midsummer Nights Dream due to popular demand. The production, which has sold out all but two performances, opens at the castle on the 17th July and runs until the 27th July.
In celebration of William Shakespeare's life, the Alley Theatre hosts Shakespeare@400, a variety of educational and patron-engaging events, highlighted by the production of A Midsummer Night's Dream beginning October 7. Shakespeare in American Communities, a national program, is partnering with the Alley to bring Shakespeare and the spoken word directly into classrooms. Pacific Northwest Ballet Artistic Director Peter Boal and corps de ballet dancer Jessika Anspach have announced that Ms. Anspach will retire at the end of PNB's 2015-2016 season. A true “PNB baby,” Ms. Anspach literally grew up dancing at PNB over 26 years, first in classes at PNB School and then with the Company. She took her first PNB School Creative Movement dance class at the age of five in 1990, joined the company as an apprentice in 2004 and was promoted to corps de ballet in 2005.

Today 19th February 2016 marks the 420th anniversary of the wedding between Lord Thomas Berkeley and Elizabeth Carey - the wedding for which William Shakespeare wrote one of the most successful plays in theatre history - A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. The play was performed for the very first time at the wedding, and in July 2016 will return to Berkeley Castle for what will be a history-making production of this play.
