As the head of the class at School of Rock, Alex Brightman creates a rock concert every night for the audience at the Winter Garden Theatre. His take on Dewey Finn (or Mr. Schneebly) has earned him his first Tony nomination for Best Performance by and Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical and he doesn't quite know how to properly celebrate. Denise Rich, co-founder of Gabrielle's Angel Foundation for Cancer Research, and singer Chloe Jane co-hosted a fundraising event last night with SCHOOL OF ROCK: THE MUSICAL on Broadway. Cancer survivors and their families joined supporters of the Foundation to enjoy a pre-show reception at The Palm in Times Square, followed by attending a performance of the show and post-show talkback with the kids who star in the show and actress Mamie Parris from the cast. A flash mob of more than 100 teens will be playing guitar and singing in celebration of the power of music as part of Guitar Mash's Teen Mash Mob at Richard Tucker Square (66th Street between Columbus Ave and Broadway) next Friday, May 13 at 5:30 p.m. Featured among them will be guest guitarist Brandon Niederauer, who plays 'Zack' in Broadway's SCHOOL OF ROCK.

School of Rock - The Musical will host the Shubert Foundation High School Theatre Festival for New York City Public Schools on Monday, March 7 at Broadway's Winter Garden Theatre.  Alex Brightman, star of School of Rock - The Musical, will emcee the event, Chancellor Carmen Farina, of the New York City Department of Education, will welcome the crowd and introduce the Shubert Organization's Chairman Philip J. Smith and President Robert E. Wankel.  Shubert Foundation President Michael I. Sovern will introduce Brightman.
