Musical Theatre West Presents CATS, 2/27

Musical Theatre West is proud to announce the opening of its production of CATS at the beautiful 1,070-seat Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach. CATS previews February 11 and runs February 12 through February 27, 2011. Dana Solimando directs and choreographs Musical Theatre West's production of CATS with musical direction by Dennis Castellano.

On Sunday February 6 LA's Next Great Stage Star 2011 held its finale at Sterling's Upstairs @ Vitello's beginning at 11:30 am. 20 contestants competed in a nonstop round and then the audience and judges voted for the top 5. Points were added together for the entire six weeks of the competition which began January 2. Those named were Michael David, Reba Buhr, Emily Goglia, Judy Mora and Matthew McFarland. There was a thrill-packed final round of singing and then Judy Mora emerged victoriously as the winner. James Lent served as musical director.

The continuation of Broadway's longest-running musical The Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies will open in May 2011 at the Regent Theatre. It's now been announced that starring as The Phantom and Christine will be Ben Lewis as the Phantom and Anna O'Byrne as Christine. Nearly 900 entertainers are said to have had auditioned for the parts.
