The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the nominees for the 37th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards. Many of the major categories were announced this morning on 'CBS News' 'The Early Show,' by Bree Williamson (Jessica Brennan on 'One Life to Live,' ABC) and Travis Stork ('The Doctors,' Syndicated) including the naming of the Lifetime Achievement honoree, Agnes Nixon, the grand dame of Daytime serial drama.
Nickelodeon notched another weekly ratings win as basic cable's number-one total day network, driven by another top-ranking iCarly (Saturday, May 8, 8 p.m. ET/PT). iCarly took basic cable's top entertainment spot among total viewers for a second straight week (5/3/10-5/9/10). iCarly drew 4.4 million total viewers with the new episode 'iBelieve in Bigfoot'. The episode averaged 8.6/2.0 million kids 6-11, 7.0/1.5 million tweens 9-14 and 7.0/2.5 million kids 2-11. Year to date, iCarly ranks at the number-one live-action series with kids 2-11.
Driven by another stellar performance from iCarly, which scored basic cable's top entertainment telecast among total viewers for the week (4/26/10-5/2/10), Nickelodeon notched another weekly ratings win. Nick scored a clean sweep as basic cable's number-one network with kids 2-11, kids 6-11, tweens and total viewers, and drew the week's top ten kid-targeted telecasts. For the week, Nickelodeon averaged 2.2 million persons 2+, a 3.3/1.2 million K2-11, 2.6/570,000 K6-11 and 2.0/431,000 T9-14.
Fela!, the critically acclaimed new musical based on the life and music of groundbreaking African composer, performer and activist Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, is directed and choreographed by Tony® Award-winner Bill T. Jones (Spring Awakening), with a book by Jim Lewis and Bill T. Jones. Sahr Ngaujah and Kevin Mambo play the title character at alternate performances, while the world renowned Antibalas and other members of the NYC Afrobeat community, under the direction of Aaron Johnson, perform Kuti's rousing music live onstage.
Nickelodeon notched another weekly ratings win, fueled by performances from brand-new episodes of iCarly and Victorious. iCarly (April 17) ranked as broadcast and basic cable's number-one telecast in its 8-8:30 p.m. time period on Saturday with total viewers, kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14. Victorious (April 18) also grabbed broadcast and basic cable's top spot among scripted series in its 8-8:30 p.m. time period on Sunday with total viewers and bested direct competition in the time slot with kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and total viewers.

Nickelodeon's first quarter performance marks its biggest audience ever with total viewers (P2+) in the network's 30-year history and its 60th straight quarter as the top basic cable network with kids 2-11 and total viewers?the longest run of its kind. Nick also claims basic cable's top spot in total day with kids 2-11, kids 6-11, tweens 9-14 and persons 2+ for 1Q10. According to Nielsen Media Research (12/28/09-3/28/10), Nickelodeon averaged 2.3 million total viewers; a 3.7/1.3 million K2-11; a 3.2/684,000 K6-11; and 2.3/490,000 T9-14 for the quarter.
Nickelodeon brought its annual Upfront presentation to Los Angeles for the first time ever, where it announced new additions to its robust 2010-11 programming slate originally unveiled during its March 11 presentation in New York. The real monsters, dragons, and basilisks are back! More than 60 live lizards and snakes from five continents in exquisitely prepared habitats. In addition to the live animals, the exhibit uses interactive stations, significant fossils, and an award-winning video to acquaint visitors with the world of the Squamata, the group that includes lizards and snakes. Vistors can learn about ballistic tongues of chameleons, how a basilisk escapes from predators by running across water, amazing camouflage of Madagascar geckos, the 3-D thermal vision of rattlesnakes and boas, spitting cobra fangs, blood-squirting Horned Lizards, flying snakes and lizards, and other gravity-defying squamates.

Producers Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter and Will & Jada Pinkett Smith announced today that beginning January 6, the new critically acclaimed Broadway musical Fela! will add Wednesday matinee performances to its weekly schedule and push back Sunday matinee times to 3pm. The new schedule, beginning Tuesday, January 5 will be as follows: Tuesday at 7pm, Wednesday at 2pm & 8pm, Thursday and Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm & 8pm and Sunday at 3pm (except Sunday, January 10 when curtain is 2pm).
Fela!, the new Broadway musical based on the life and music of African composer and performer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, officially opens tonight, November 23, minus a few high profile celebrity producers. It was planned for Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Jay-Z to all be in attendance for Fela!'s opening night, but due Smith's oldest son acquiring a sports related injury, the Smiths are no longer able to attend. Jay-Z will still be attending the opening night festivities including a red carpet appearance and the after party.
