'The Adventures of the Dish and the Spoon,' a new musical based on the award-winning book by Mini Grey makes its premiere at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, Connecticut on Januaray 17 and plays through February 22nd.
The new musical is written by Bert Bernardi (book and lyrics) and Scott Simonelli (music). Based on Mini Grey's book, 'The Adventure of the Dish and the Spoon' picks up where the nursery rhyme leaves off. The Dish runs away with the Spoon on an adventure that spans twenty five years. The pair arrive in New York City at the beginning of the great depression.
They enjoy fortune and fame, before their celebrity forces them into a darker world of borrowing and thievery and the consequences that follow. The wild rollercoaster ride that Dish and Spoon enjoy is peppered with musical styles of the twenties and thirties.
Featured in the cast are Maria Vee, Marc Guerrette, Bert Bernardi (who is the Artistic Director), Jimmy Johansmeyer, Mary Mannix and Krissy Dorn.
'The Adventures of the Dish and the Spoon' features lighting by Hugh Hallinan, settings by Delmar, costumes by Jimmy Johansmeyer, technical direction by Steve
Swatt, and stage management by Phill Hill. Mr. Bernardi directs.
