BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Donald R. Seawell, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Broadway producer and the first to bring the Royal Shakespeare Company to New York, died today, September 30, 2015. He was 103.
In addition to the previously announced Michelle Dockery, Janet McTeer and Dominic West, the production will feature Adjoa Andoh, Theo Barklem-Biggs, Morfydd Clark, Edward Holcroft, Jennifer Saayeng and Una Stubbs.

As a solo artist and leader of the Tijuana Brass, Alpert has sold more than 72 million records and placed 28 albums on the Billboard charts, including five at No. 1. His 2014 album, “Steppin' Out,” earned him his ninth Grammy Award, and in 2013, he was honored with the National Medal of Arts. His wife and music partner, Hall, rose to fame in 1966 as the lead singer of Sergio Mendes' group, Brasil '66. The two met and became friends when Brasil '66 was signed to A&M records by its co-founder, Alpert. Hall has the distinction of recording more than 22 albums in three different languages, four alongside her husband, and she earned a Grammy for her album, “Es Facil Amar.”

Marin Theatre Company artistic director Jasson Minadakis, managing director Michael Barker and director of new play development Margot Melcon announced today the winners of MTC's two new American play prizes, a program now in its seventh year. Skeleton Crew by Dominique Morisseau won the 2014 Sky Cooper New American Play Prize and Martyna Majok won the 2014 David Calicchio Emerging American Playwright Prize for her play Ironbound. The winners were selected from over 900 eligible submissions.

Film, television and stage actor Eli Wallach, whose career spanned more than six decades, beginning in the late 1940s, died on Tuesday, June 24th at the age 98. His death was confirmed by his daughter Katherine.

The Daily Mail reports that Hampstead Theatre's SUNNY AFTERNOON might soon be transferring to the West End -- or even the big screen. Actor/director Dexter Fletcher allegedly appeared at the show with film producers Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich to scout the production. The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the details for Fassbinder: Romantic Anarchist (Part 1), May 16 - June 1. Divided into two parts, the retrospective will be the most extensive presentation of Fassbinder's films in New York since 1997, with Part 1 including almost all of his work leading up to 1974 and Part 2 (screening in November) to pick up from 1974 through 1982. The ambitious two-part series will include all of his theatrical features, much of his television work, films he starred in, films that influenced him, and films that were influenced by his work.
Hampstead Theatre brings the talents of an exciting young cast to Sunny Afternoon, the story of the early life of Ray Davies and the rise to stardom of The Kinks. Featuring some of The Kinks' best loved songs, including You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset and Lola, and with choreographer Adam Cooper joining the creative team, Sunny Afternoon marks the 50th Anniversary year of the band's debut release.
According to the New York Post, stage and screen star Glenn Close might be heading back to Broadway soon! Michael Riedel writes that Close will star in Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize-winning A Delicate Balance. The production will be helmed by Simon McBurney and is aiming for a run next season.
