Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) will begin previews for AFTER TE REVOLUTION on Thursday, October 21 at 7:30 PM. With an Opening Night set for November 10, the limited engagement will play through Sunday, November 28 at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street). AFTER THE REVOLUTION will be the second production of the theater company's 40th Anniversary Season.

The New York Times now has further details, including word that the Stafford Arima directed production is aiming for Off Broadway, produced by MCC and to play the Lucille Lortel Theater. Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Theatre Company, Inc. have confirmed that the third national tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA , known as the Music Box Company, will play its final performance on Halloween Night -- Sunday, October 31, 2010 -- at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles.

It may be set in 1950, but it could just as easily have been ripped from this morning's TMZ.com - Portland Center Stage brings Billy Wilder's glittering Hollywood train wreck of a tale to the main stage with Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical adaptation of Sunset Boulevard. Sunset Boulevard previews on Tuesday September 14th, with press night on Friday, September 17th, running through October, 2010. Tickets start at $43, with student and under 30 discounts available. Rush tickets are $20. Show times are 7:30 pm Tuesday through Saturday, with a 2:00 pm Sunday matinee and alternating Saturday 2:00 pm and Sunday 7:30 pm performances. As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, producers Jeffrey Seller and Kevin McCollum, resurrected the infamous flop musical CARRIE for an Equity reading that had a notoriously short 3 night, 5 performance run on Broadway in 1988. The reading took place on November 20, 2009. The hope is to bring 'Carrie' and her supernatural powers back to the Broadway stage.

Also appearing in the show are Amanda Byron, Joshua Tussin, Brian Sell, Gino Costabile, Ruark Downey, Brian Frank, Laura Dillman, and Andrew McLeod. Joe Jung directed this production. Lighting design is by Chad Lefebvre, scenic desgin by Francois Portier and J.J. Bernard and costume design by Jessi Blue Gormezano.

Paice, Morton, Kushnier Lead Cast Of CHESS At Signature Theatre Thru 9/26

CHESS opened at the Signature Theatre on August 10 and will run through September 26. The cast is lead by Jill Paice (Curtains, The 39 Steps) as Florence Vassy, Euan Morton (Boy George in Taboo, Sondheim on Sondheim) as Anatoly Sergievsky and Jeremy Kushnier (Footloose, Rent) as Freddie Trumper. The rock musical is directed by Signature's Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer. Written by Mamma Mia! composers Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson with Evita and Lion King lyricist Tim Rice, the 1984 cult musical of Cold War competition in love and chess is being given its first major Washington area production. Chess is being performed in the fabulous intimacy of the 276-seat MAX Theatre.
