DePaul University Theatre School Presents THE STRIKER, 11/5-14

The Theatre School at DePaul University presents The Skriker, written by Caryl Churchill and directed by Jess Jung, as the first installment of the 2010-2011 New Directors Series. The production opens Friday, November 5, and runs through Sunday, November 14, 2010, at the Greenhouse Theater Center. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Previews are on November 3 and November 4 at 7:30 PM.

Theatre Producer Jack Thomas to Present 'A World of its Own' 10/23 - 31

Jack Thomas, currently a producer of the hit Off-Broadway play Freud's Last Session and Broadway's Colin Quinn Long Story Short, will be presenting an exhibition of painter Charlotte Lichtblau's paintings and drawings, beginning this Saturday, October 23rd at the 8th Floor Space, a private gallery located at 17 West 17th Street. The show, entitled A WORLD OF ITS OWN, runs through October 31st with admission daily from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This exhibition is curated by Bruce Payne. For appointments, contact Jack Thomas at 917-620-0791.

The Theatre School at DePaul University presents THE SECRET GARDEN, written by Frances Hodgson Burnett, adapted by Pamela Sterling, and directed by John Jenkins, as the opening production of the 2010-2011 Chicago Playworks for Families and Young Audiences Series. This production opens Tuesday, October 30, and runs through Saturday, December 4, 2010, at DePaul's historic Merle Reskin Theatre. Performances are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 10 AM and Saturdays at 2 PM. There will be no performances on November 23, 25, 26, 27, or 30. There will be a special performance held on December 1, at 10AM.

New Line Theatre Presents CRY BABY

The Wall Street Journal called it 'the funniest new musical since Avenue Q.' New Line Theatre, 'The Bad Boy of Musical Theatre,' has been granted the first production rights in the country for the American regional premiere of the Broadway rockabilly musical CRY-BABY, based on John Waters' cult classic film starring Johnny Depp. The original creative team is revising the show for New Line, to make it a smaller, more intimate musical, and it will run here next season, for four weeks in spring 2012.

The Gallery at REDCAT is pleased to present the first Los Angeles presentation of two influential contemporary artists who pioneered the field of video art in China: Hangzhou-based artist Zhang Peili and Beijing-based artist Zhu Jia. Coming out of a generation that witnessed the ramifications of the Cultural Revolution, the 1989 Tiananmen Massacre and the infamous 1989 China/Avant-Garde exhibition at the National Museum of Contemporary Art and its subsequent closing by state authorities, Zhang and Zhu use video to navigate the complex and shifting terrain that characterizes contemporary China.
