Nilaja Sun's PIKE ST. Starts Post-Show Forums to Commemorate Anniversary of Hurricane Sandy Tonight

Epic Theatre Ensemble and Nilaja Sun are happy to announce that the first week of PIKE ST. post-show forums will include representatives from the NYC Emergency Management Department and L.E.S. Ready! -- two organizations dedicated to rebuilding New York City after Hurricane Sandy and preparing for the next big storm. Audience members (and any individual interested) are welcome to stay after preview performances of Nilaja Sun's one-woman show to discuss and ask questions about the relevant social issues presented in the work. PIKE ST. will begin performances tonight, November 10, 2015 in the experimental theater at Abrons Art Center (466 Grand Street) with post-show forums running from this evening, November 10 until Sunday, November 15, 2015.

The Old Globe's 2016 Summer Season Will Include Steve Martin's METEOR SHOWER, Plus Kathleen Marshall-Helmed LOVE'S LABOR'S LOST

The Old Globe today shared its 2016 Summer Season, which will feature new and familiar works directed by four major American stalwarts. The season features the welcome return of Steve Martin (Bright Star) with the World Premiere of his new play Meteor Shower, an adult comedy, directed by Gordon Edelstein, in a co-production with Long Wharf Theatre, where he serves as Artistic Director. Paul Gordon's musical Sense and Sensibility will have its West Coast premiere, presented in association with Chicago Shakespeare Theater, where it had its world premiere in February 2015, directed by CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines. The Summer Shakespeare Festival will include Macbeth, directed by Brian Kulick, Artistic Director of Classic Stage Company, and Love's Labor's Lost, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall.

Transport Group has announced that casting has been completed for its upcoming revival of Once Upon a Mattress, which stars Jackie Hoffman (On the Town, Difficult People, Hairspray) as Princess Winnifred and John "Lypsinka"Epperson (Lypsinka's The Boxed Set, The Passion of the Crawford) as Queen Aggravain.  The production, which is directed by five-time Drama Desk Award nominee Jack Cummings III, features Jessica Fontana (Cinderella) as Lady Larken, David Greenspan (The Patsy) as The King, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (A Little Night Music) as The Minstrel, Cory Lingner(On the Town) as The Jester, Zak Resnick (Piece of My Heart) as Sir Harry, Jay Rogers (Howard Crabtree's When Pigs Fly) as The Wizard, and Jason SweetTooth Williams (Things to Ruin) as Prince Dauntless, with Vivienne Cleary, Richard Costa, Michael De Souza, Tim Dolan, Jack Donahue, Amy Griffin, Sarah Killough, Kristen Michelle, Ali Reed,and Doug Shapiro.

Orange County, Calif.—Aug. 17, 2015—Romantic Russian masterpieces give way to a thrilling orchestral battle featuring fireworks, cannons and brassy fanfare for Pacific Symphony's “Tchaikovsky Spectacular,” featuring the composer's “1812” Overture. The program's centerpiece is Rachmaninoff's virtuosic showpiece—the achingly beautiful, grand and lyrical Piano Concerto No. 2, performed by Olga Kern. Born in Russia to a family of musicians with direct links to both Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff, the captivating pianist was the first woman in 30 years to win the Gold Medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition (2001). Rattlestick Playwrights Theater and piece by piece productions have announced that the The Reverend Micah Bucey will moderate a post-show panel discussion following the performance of the world premiere play Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, America, Kuwait, written and directed by Daniel Talbott, tonight, June 16, at The Gym at Judson, 243 Thompson Street. The panelists will include Greg Grandin, Morgan Jenness, and Michael Ratner.

Music Director David Hayes has announced the New York Choral Society's (NYCS) 56th concert season. For the holiday season the New York Choral Society will present Christmas Around New York on December 10 at 6:30 pm at Saint Peter's Church, Lexington Avenue at 54th St. and on Sunday, December 14, at 3:00 pm at Snug Harbor Cultural Center. The program, performed with brass and organ includes an arrangement of O Come, O Come Emmanuel and a Magnificat by Pachelbel along with more contemporary works by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Jennifer Higdon and the popular Christmas Cantata by Daniel Pinkham.
