New York City Ballet Announces 2015-16 Season - Justin Peck World Premieres, George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins & More!

New York City Ballet will open its 2015-16 Season at Lincoln Center on Tuesday, September 22 with eight performances of Peter Martins' production of Tschaikovsky's Swan Lake, through Tuesday, September 29, to launch the Company's 2015 Fall Season, which will continue for four weeks through Sunday, October 18.

Sunday 15 March marks the centenary of the date that George Llewelyn Davies died in action during the First World War. George was the eldest of the Llewelyn Davies children and, along with brother Michael, was one of J.M.Barrie's favourite boys who inspired him to create the characters of Peter Pan and the lost boys. To honour this pivotal date, Regent's Park Open Air Theatre in association with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity, releases images from the J.M. Barrie archive, including the last letter written to Barrie by George Llewelyn Davies from the trenches the day before his death at the age of 21.

Valour! Compassion!') and playwright Rody Vera's ('The Merchant of Venice,' 'D' Wonder Twins of Boac') reimagining of Anton Chekhov's masterwork 'The Cherry Orchard,' now titled 'Arbol de Fuego,' a flowering tree that bears no fruit, which frames the main entrance to the nearly bankrupt estate Balay Dako in Negros Occidental, Southern Philippines, during the '70s.

The Museum of Modern Art has organized the first major exhibition to examine the individual accomplishments and parallel developments of two of the foremost practitioners of avant-garde photography, film, advertising, and graphic design in the first half of the 20th century: Grete Stern (German, 1904-1999) and Horacio Coppola (Argentine, 1906-2012). From Bauhaus to Buenos Aires: Grete Stern and Horacio Coppola will be on view May 17 through October 4, 2015, and features more than 300 works gathered from museums and private collection across Europe and the Americas-many of which have never before been exhibited in the United States.

Music for Aardvarks Band to Play Two Shows at Jewish Museum, 2/8

David Weinstone and The Music for Aardvarks Band will perform two concerts for kids at The Jewish Museum on Sunday, February 8 at 11:30 am and 2:00 pm. Families will hear favorite songs celebrating being a kid in New York City such as City Kid, Taxi, Jack Hammer Joe and Modern Art. David Weinstone, founder of Music for Aardvarks, explains, 'our shows are rockin', and we try to have as much audience participation as possible. We've even had kids come up on stage with us to sing or dance.'

The Manhattan School of Music Opera Theater will be presenting Ernest Bloch's Macbeth on Wednesday, December 10 and Friday, December 12 at 7:30 pm.; and on Sunday, December 14 at 2:30 p.m. in the School's Borden Auditorium. Bloch's only opera, composed when the composer was in his early 20's, is set to a libretto by the composer's friend, the poet Edmond Fleg, after Shakespeare's play.

The Jewish Museum will present its annual Hanukkah Family Day, a fun-filled day of activities, on Sunday, December 14 from 12 noon to 4 pm. Kids can construct a sculptural Hanukkah menorah with funky found objects, dance to the music of Shirlala, see the Hanukkah story brought to life through a drawing performance with Jeff Hopkins, and explore the Museum's world-famous collection of Hanukkah lamps.

Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) launches its 24th season with grand opening performances in THE BLACK BOX, FPAC's new home and performance venue in downtown Franklin. A special kick-off weekend will introduce the theater, music and event space to the community. Anchoring a series of signature events, FPAC's annual Gala on Saturday evening, September 20, features a special, one-night-only performance by Tony® Award winner Beth Leavel and Broadway star Alexander Gemignani. On Sunday, September 21, FPAC hosts an Open House at THE BLACK BOX, inviting the public to come celebrate, tour the facility, and learn about upcoming programming and arts opportunities for Franklin and the surrounding region.
