Variety reports that the Broadway-bound musical MEMPHIS has nabbed the Shubert Theater for its fall run, with a group sales announcement indicating the show will begin previews on September 23rd, 2009. The official announcement about a theatre location or for exact preview and opening dates has been made as of yet.

TheatreWorks, the nationally acclaimed theatre of Silicon Valley, has announced that Meredith McDonough will fill the role of Director of New Works. She replaces Kent Nicholson, who left in late 2008 to become the Director of Musical Theatre Development at Playwrights Horizons. An ideal candidate, McDonough has been actively developing new works for the past ten years at theatres including Actors Theatre of Louisville, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Round House Theatre, The Public Theatre, LABryinth Theatre Company, Ars Nova, Women?s Project and Productions, New Georges, and the Drama League. She spent two years as the New Works Program Director at the National Alliance for Musical Theatre, and three seasons as a resident director at Actors Theatre of Louisville, famed for its annual Humana Festival of New American Plays. She has personally directed over twenty world premiere plays and musicals. McDonough holds an M.F.A. in Directing from University of California, San Diego, and a B.S. in Performance Studies from Northwestern University.
Four plays will be developed in July at The Cape Cod Theatre Project, culminating in three performances of each play as staged readings on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm through the month of July at Falmouth Academy (7 Highfield Dr., Falmouth, MA).
Directed by Des McAnuff and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo, GUYS AND DOLLS began previews on February 5, 2009 and opened on March 1, 2009 at Broadway's newly refurbished Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street). Evans announce the final selection for the 2009-2010 Northlight Season, the world premiere of Low Down Dirty Blues, by Randal Myler and Dan Wheetman, the creators of It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues and Fire on the Mountain. The production will feature two-time Jeff Award winner Mississippi Charles Bevel.
