ON GOLDEN POND is the love story of Norman and Ethyl Thayer, who are returning for theirforty eighth summer together at their lake home, on Golden Pond. They are visited by their daughter Chelsea, who brings her fiancé, Bill, and his 13 year old son, Billy. The son stays with the Thayers while Chelsea and Bill go to Europe where they get married. Billy soon becomes the “grandson” the Thayers have always wanted, reviving Norman’s youth and teaching him some current teenage slang. The other character is Chairlie, the local man who delivers the mail by boat, and who has always had a crush on Chelsea.

I would describe Bucks County Playhouse's production of ON GOLDEN POND, under the direction of Jonathan Silverstein, as comforting. The show is a warm-hearted and beautiful production with a cast that skillfully crafts a portrait of a family. The story is nostalgic and takes the audience on a journey back to simpler times. ON GOLDEN POND sheds light on the complexities of relationships and how they change over time. ON GOLDEN POND at Bucks County Playhouse pays homage to aging and family relationships, and this production has a solid and outstanding cast.
