VENUE Q, the Tony Award-winning musical that has delighted and surprised theatergoers since it first arrived on Broadway in 2003, had another surprise in store when the musical's producers announced from the stage at the conclusion of the show's final Broadway performance at theJohn Golden Theatre (252 W. 45 St.) on September 13, 2009 that AVENUE Q will, in fact, move to a new address in the Times Square neighborhood and begin performances on October 9 at New World Stages (340 W. 50 St.). Some things aren't only for now! Announced from the stage tonight by producer Kevin McCollum was the unprecedented news that AVENUE Q was making theatre history by moving BACK off Broadway and that it will re-open on October 9, 2009 at New World Stages. The show will be presented in its entirety and from the same production, design and producer team as its current Broadway incarnation. An official announcement is expected tomorrow.

Deborah Cox To Return To Broadway As Josephine Baker in JOSEPHINE

The award-winning, multi-platinum recording artist Deborah Cox, who made her Broadway debut taking over the title role in AIDA, is set to return to Broadway as Josephine Baker -- the exotic Parisian star of the famed Folies Bergère -- in the new musical JOSEPHINE, featuring music by three-time Grammy-nominee Steve Dorff, lyrics by Oscar and Golden Globe-nominee John Bettis, and book by Ellen Weston and Mark Hampton. Joey McKneely is set to direct and choreograph.

Goodman Theatre proudly concludes its 2008/2009 season with José Rivera's newest play, Boleros for the Disenchanted, 'an epic study of wedded life that is simply?and not so simply?marvelous' (Variety). A true love story inspired by Rivera's parents' courtship and eventual migration from Puerto Rico to Alabama, Boleros for the Disenchanted makes its Chicago premiere directed by Henry Godinez?the Goodman's Resident Artistic Associate who was named 2008 Latino of the Year by the Chicago Latino Network. Chicago actors Elizabeth Ledo and Sandra Marquez command the stage in the role of Flora, based on Rivera's mother, at various points in her life. Godinez's cast also includes Liza Fernandez, Joe Minoso, Rene Rivera and Felix Solis. Boleros for the Disenchanted is performed in English in the Albert Theatre June 20 ? July 26, 2009.
