Alvin Ailey Announces New Works Programmed by Robert Battle

ReGroup Begins Their 2nd Summer Series With THE HOUSE OF CONNELLY

The ReGroup will kick of their 2nd season by presenting Paul Green's The House of Connelly at 7 PM on June 6th, 2011 at The 47th St Theatre, 304 W 47th St. For the first time, they will present both endings to the play; the ending Mr. Green had intended and the very different ending the Group Theatre had him rewrite.

Actor Jackie Cooper Passes Away at 88

Actor Jackie Cooper has passed away. He was 88 years old. The youngest actor to ever be nominated for an Academy Award at just nine years old in 1931, Jackie Cooper went on to have an acting career that spanned nearly six decades. He later delved into directing and producing for television.

Reprise Theatre Company Announces 2011-2012 Season

Reprise Theatre Company's 2011-2012 season features two classic American musicals at UCLA's Freud Playhouse - "Cabaret" (September 13 to September 25, 2011), based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood, music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, Broadway production directed by Harold Prince; "The Baker's Wife" (February 14 to 26, 2012), with book by Joseph Stein and music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, based on the film 'La Femme de Boulanger' by Marcel Pagnol and Jean Giono; and a third production to be announced, which will play April 17 to 29, 2012.

Alec Baldwin Returms for TCM's THE ESSENTIALS

Two-time Emmy winner Alec Baldwin (30 Rock) is back for a second season as co-host of THE ESSENTIALS on Turner Classic Movies (TCM). In his first season, Baldwin displayed a deep knowledge of classic films. Baldwin and TCM host Robert Osborne will return in 2010 with a new slate of 'must see' movies each week.

John Baldessari: Pure Beauty, the first major U.S. exhibition in 20 years to survey Baldessari's career, will be on view at The Metropolitan Museum of Art from October 20, 2010, through January 9, 2011. This retrospective will feature approximately 120 works spanning the period from 1962 to 2010.

Dreiser's masterpiece is being presented in cooperation with The University of Pennsylvania and The Wharton Esherick Museum, as part of a major symposium, THE BIRTH OF THE MODERN, held this fall at the University of Pennsylvania.

With Henry Clay Frick's death in 1919, his will was made public and the destiny of his collection and mansion as a museum was formalized, but not yet set into motion. After the death of his wife, Adelaide, in 1931, the Board of Trustees established by Mr. Frick's will became engaged in discussions about how to create a museum from this legacy.

The CAPA Summer Movie Series, the longest-running classic film series in America, celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2010 with an impressive assembly of classics, cult favorites, and much beloved films. The 2010 series, made possible through the generous support of PNC, will run June 4 - July 25 at the historic Ohio Theatre (39 E. State St.).
