Today, National Queer Theater announced the inaugural Criminal Queerness Festival, an official WorldPride partner event, which will take place June 13 - July 7, 2019 at IRT Theater. Coinciding with WorldPride 2019 and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the festival explores the criminalization of LGBTQ communities in the 70 countries where it is still illegal to be gay, lesbian, bisexual, and/or transgender.

As the closer to Alberta Theatre Project's 2018/2019 season - and coming off of the announcement in August of 2018 to exchange this show for another - all eyes were on The New Canadian Curling Club...Directed by Artistic Director Darcy Evans, this two act play set the goal of diversity and inclusive storytelling and I don't think it follows through.

Opening March 5 and running until March 23, Alberta Theatre Projects will present the fifth and final show of its 2018/19 season, The New Canadian Curling Club, in the Martha Cohen Theatre at Arts Commons. Director of Nuffield Southampton Theatres, Sam Hodges today announces the full cast for his production of Howard Brenton's The Shadow Factory which returns to celebrate NST City's first anniversary after opening the space with a sell-out run last year. The cast includes Denise Black (Lady Cooper/Ma Dimmock), Bethan Cullinane (Jackie Dimmock), Joe Tracini (Len Gooch) and Michael Fenton Stevens (Lord Beaverbrook) joining returning cast members David Birrell (Fred Dimmock/Hugh Downing), Catherine Cusack (Lil Dimmock/Sylvia Meinster) and Shala Nyx (Polly Stride). The production opens on 1 February, with previews from 30 January, and runs until 2 March.

Last night, Bloomberg Businessweek hosted a celebration of this year's Bloomberg 50, its annual list honoring 50 icons and innovators who have changed the global business landscape in measurable ways over the past year. The event took place at Cipriani 25 Broadway in New York. Aasif Mandvi was the Master of Ceremonies and there was a special musical performance by Megan Hilty.

The 2018 Northeast Film Festival will be hosted by Gracie award-winning comedian Mary Dimino.  Located at Teaneck Cinemas, NEFF is one of New Jersey's most celebrated festivals. Hiring Dimino as the ceremony's annual host/presenter, NEFF welcomes back the comedian for its sixth year.

Dimensions Festival returns to the iconic Fort Punto Christo this August, and for it's seventh edition, there's a massive five days in store with seven stages, over 100 artists, a fortress, and of course, boat parties. The Harbour sees off over 20 boats setting sail, embarking on sonic journeys across the glittering Adriatic. Jump on board for adventures with underground heroes, revered labels, heavyweight DJ's and breakthrough talent all stepping behind the boat's booth.

On June 21st, the Shakespeare Academy at Stratford kicked off its fifth season by welcoming fourteen young actors to Stratford. Coming from as close as New York City and as far as Singapore and Mexico, the group was selected from a record number of applicants to spend six weeks training and performing on the property that once housed the American Shakespeare Festival Theater.
