Dinner with Friends, written by Donald Margulies, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning drama that delves into the complexities of long-term friendships and the challenges of navigating marital strain.

The play centers on two couples, Tom and Beth, and Gabe and Karen. They've been close friends for years, often socializing and sharing life's ups and downs over meals together. However, the comfortable dynamic is shattered when Tom announces he's leaving Beth. The following dinner gatherings become a poignant exploration of the fallout from this divorce.

As the play progresses, we see the impact of the breakup on both couples. Tom and Beth grapple with the emotional toll of ending their marriage, while Gabe and Karen struggle to maintain their own relationship amidst the turmoil. The play explores themes of communication breakdown, infidelity, shifting friendships, and the difficulty of coping with change. Margulies utilizes witty dialogue and insightful observations to create a nuanced portrait of human relationships, leaving audiences to contemplate the fragility of love and the enduring power of friendship.
