Today we are celebrating this week's hot news of Audra McDonald's big Broadway return next season!

The mesmerizing songstress Audra McDonald, will grace the Van Wezel stage on March 22, 2015 at 7:00pm with a dazzling performance of her favorite show-tunes and songs from her new album Go Back Home. Her breadth and versatility as both a singer and an actress combines to make her the powerhouse artist that she is. With a record six Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards, and a whole catalogue of other awards to her name, making her one of today's most highly regarded performers.

The School of Theatre at Florida State University presents Ragtime, written by Terrence McNally with music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and based on the novel 'Ragtime' by E.L. Doctorow. Ragtime will be directed by Fred Chappell, head of the MFA Directing program at Florida State University. The show features a musical selection as diverse as New York City, from the ragtime rhythms of Harlem to the bold brass band and up-tempo banjo tunes characterizing America at the turn of the century.

Audra McDonald has earned Tonys, Grammys and other accolades for her work on stage and screen. Soon, the multitalented performer will add another accomplishment to her extensive resume.

Today in 1998, Ragtime opened at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts (now the Foxwoods Theatre), where it ran for 834 performances. The musical garnered four Tony Awards including Best Book, Original Score and Best Orchestrations. The beloved Ahrens and Flaherty score features some of the award-winning team's best-known songs including the title song, 'Make Them Hear You' and the anthem 'The Wheels of a Dream.' A revival opened at the Neil Simon Theatre in 2009.

The Muny announced today the directors, choreographers and music directors for the Muny's 2015 Season, which opens on June 15 with My Fair Lady. 'This is a thrilling roster of artists,' said Muny Artistic Director and Executive Producer Mike Isaacson. 'We look forward to bringing their vision and talent to our grand stage.'

Following the success of Titanic earlier this year, and Ragtime in 2013, Manhattan Concert Productions will bring the Drama Desk and TONY Award-winning score of Parade back to Lincoln Center, where it all began in 1998. This concert performance of Parade will feature a chorus of over 200 singers from the across the United States; the enlarged forces of the New York City Chamber Orchestra; and a full professional Broadway cast.

Just last week, On the Town returned to Broadway in a revival directed by John Rando, which is running at the Lyric Theatre. The Warner Stage Company's 2014-2015 Main Stage season opens with one of the greatest musicals of our time on November 1st with RAGTIME - The Musical.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that Phoenix Entertainment has on its agenda a touring revival of RAGTIME to commence in the Fall of 2015. It will be helmed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge, who received a Tony Nomination as Best Director for the 2009 Broadway revival. This new tour will be much in the spirit of that production which was nominated for 7 Tony Awards in 2010.

The March broadcasts of The New York Philharmonic This Week - the weekly radio series of concerts and recordings by the New York Philharmonic, hosted by Alec Baldwin - begin with Music Director Alan Gilbert leading the Philharmonic in the World Premiere of The Marie-Josee Kravis Composer-in-Residence Christopher Rouse's Prospero's Rooms; Bernstein's Serenade (after Plato's "Symposium"), with Joshua Bell as soloist; and Ives's Symphony No. 4 with representatives of the New York Choral Consortium. The following week Alan Gilbert and Assistant Conductor Case Scaglione will lead the Philharmonic in a performance of Stravinsky's Ragtime for 11 Instruments; Shostakovich's Tahiti Trot; Copland's Clarinet Concerto featuring Associate Principal Clarinet Marc Nuccio; and Wynton Marsalis's Swing Symphony (Symphony No. 3) featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.

As spicy and richly textured as his native N'Orleans, jazzman Jon Batiste and his New York City-based band of Julliard contemporaries dish out a steamy concoction of everything from ragtime to funk. The licks, grooves and stompin' beats sizzle in The Eccles Center spotlight tonight, February 8. The Jon Batiste & Stay Human concert starts at 7:30 p.m.
