New York City Center today announced additional casting for the concert performances of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Sunday in the Park with George, October 24 through 26.

Four of the MUNY's favorite former leading ladies are returning to the popular St. Louis venue. This time, they're coming together for the concert series Muny Magic at the Sheldon. The concert, fittingly titled 'Today's Muny Stars Celebrate the Legends,' will celebrate beloved stage icons who have also performed at the MUNY, including Ethel Merman and Bernadette Peters. 

Sedos will bring acclaimed playwright Dennis Kelly's The Ritual Slaughter of Gorge Mastromas to the Bridewell Theatre this September.  'An epic story which looks deep into the darker parts of human nature.' The play, written by award-winning playwright Dennis Kelly, best known for writing the book to Matilda The Musical for the RSC and creating the series Utopia for Channel Four, returns to the capital following its acclaimed run at the Royal Court Theatre in 2013. This dark tale examines the existence of goodness in our brutal world and whether it can survive against the casual cruelness of modern society. What does it take to succeed?

The Public Theater recently announced that Louis Cancelmi, last seen as Caliban in the Shakespeare in the Park production of The Tempest, had stepped into the company of Troilus and Cressida as Achilles, replacing David Harbour, who suffered an injury during previews and will be unable to complete the run. The play celebrates its opening tonight, August 9, after a short delay.

The Menier Chocolate Factory has announced that Harry Hepple (Baker), Steffan Lloyd-Evans (Wolf/ Cinderella's Prince) and Laura Tebbutt (Baker's Wife) will join the company of Fiasco's enchanting reinvention of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's masterpiece INTO THE WOODS. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Javier Muñoz - Lin-Manuel Miranda's alternate in the Tony Award-winning musical Hamilton on Broadway and the actor who portrayed AlexanderHamilton when President Barack Obama saw Hamilton last July - will step into the title role starting July 11 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 W. 46 St.), it has been announced byHamilton producer Jeffrey Seller. Mr. Miranda's final performance in the Broadway production is set for July 9.

Following their success at the Tony Awards last night, where they won Best Musical Revival for The Color Purple and Cynthia Erivo won Best Actress in a Musical, the Menier Chocolate Factory announces that rehearsals start today in New York for innovative and ground breaking theatre company Fiasco's enchanting reinvention of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's masterpiece Into The Woods. Both Sondheim and Lapine will join the company in rehearsal this week. The production opens on 12 July at the Menier, with previews from 1 July, and runs until 17 September.

For tenor Justin John Moniz, the prince is a role he's quite familiar with. From Cinderella's Prince in both Sondheim's Into the Woods and Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, to Prince Tamino in Mozart's Die Zauberflo?te, and now Prince Karl Franz in Romberg's The Student Prince, Moniz will make his return to the throne this June.

Centenary College Theater Department's Nextstage Repertory presents Into the Woods April 28 through May 8 in the Sitnik Theater of the Lackland Performing Arts Center.  Into the Woods was created by Stephen Sondheim and writer James Lapine and it originally premiered in 1987 on Broadway.  The musical is set in an alternate world of four of The Grimm's fairy tales.  Into the Woods tells the tale of a childless baker and his wife who are desperate to have a baby.  They attempt to lift the curse that has been placed on the Baker's side of the family by a witch because his father stole magic beans.  Along the way they encounter Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk.  Each one of the characters have a desperate desire that they will do anything to achieve, but when wishes don't go the way they thought they would, the characters realize something that had never occurred to them before; that maybe wishes aren't always what they appear to be.

The Lyric Stage Company of Boston's 2015-16 Season continues today, April 8 with MR. BURNS, a post-electric play by Anne Washburn, with a score by Michael Friedman and lyrics by Anne Washburn. Directed by A. Nora Long, the production also features music director Allyssa Jones and choreographer Yo-El Cassell. MR. BURNS runs through May 7, 2016, with the official opening slated for April 10.
