The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF), New York's premier French cultural and language center, today announced the 2019 Crossing the Line Festival, featuring 11 performances and a gallery exhibition from a geographically, generationally, and artistically diverse group of artists whose work transcends genres and boundaries. All performances are world, US, or New York premieres; they are united by their convention-breaking fearlessness as they confront topics from social injustice to personal demons. Many of the performances pay homage to legendary artists of our time and previous eras, while the theme of migration and its transformational effects on identity informs several others. Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College(MDC) will present Real Utopias, a series of films that examine past and current experiments in our collective search for freedom, equality, and democracy. The series' documentaries and film essays investigate alternative ways in which urban living has been, and can be, designed, from a call to non-violence (Everyday Rebellion: "democracy is like love, you have to make it") to architects' futuristic visions (Paolo Soleri: Citizen of the Planet and Jacque Fresco in Future My Love) to utopian urban experiments of the past (The Experimental City;Soul City, USA; New Town Utopia; Brasilia: Life After Design) to a rare look at a post-capitalist, modern-day utopian Europe (Paths Through Utopia). Ten films will be shown across eight screenings that will take place on May 9, June 6, July 11, August 6, September 10, October 10, November 14, and December 12.

After two previously sold out shows, Paul Anka returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse stage with a new show - Anka Sings Sinatra: His Songs, My Songs, My Way - on Wednesday, May 15th at 8pm.

Continuing through April 20, STC's The Light in the Piazza is beautifully sung and impressively acted by Nolan's impeccably cast ensemble in a production fairly redolent of mid-century Florence and it serves as the perfect introduction to STC's new home.
