Nevada Conservatory Theatre presents the classic musical, The Fantasticks, featuring music by Harvey Schmidt, with lyrics by Tom Jones.
Two neighboring fathers put up a wall between their houses to ensure that their children fall in love, because they know children always do what their parents forbid. After the children do fall in love, they discover their fathers' plot and they each go off and experience things in the world. They return to each other and the love they had, having learned from the world.
Broadway stars Ed Watts (The Fantasticks, Finian's Rainbow), Tituss Burgess (Guys and Dolls, Disney's The Little Mermaid) and Andrew Samonsky (South Pacific) will appear in concert with Maestro Peter Jaffe and the Stockton Symphony Orchestra tonight, April 28th at 8pm at Alex G. Spanos Center, University of the Pacific. Doors will open at 5:45pm and there will also be a picnic at 6:30pm. Together they will perform OH WHAT A NIGHT! BILL BOARD HITS OF THE 1960's (produced by Broadway Pops International). Featuring Billboard hits from 1957 through 1969 and music by: The Four Seasons, Ray Charles, Smokey Robinson, Bobby Darrin, Otis Redding, Righteous Brothers, Stevie Wonder, and Aretha Franklin.

A new production of the world's longest-running musical, The Fantasticks, comes to the Boston area this spring as The Fiddlehead Theatre Company presents the captivating romantic comedy about a boy, a girl, two fathers, and a wall. Based on the tale Les Romanesques by Edmond Rostand, The Fantasticks features music by Harvey Schmidt and a book and lyrics by Tom Jones. The memorable score includes "Soon It's Gonna Rain," "They Were You" and the beloved hit, "Try to Remember." The Fantasticks runs from April 13 through 29 at The Fiddlehead Theatre in Dedham, MA.

Musical geniuses Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Seger, Don Schlitz, Harvey Schmidt & Tom Jones and Jim Steinman will become the newest members of the Songwriters Hall of Fame at the organization's 43rd Annual Induction and Awards Dinner. The Fantasticks opened in 1960 and when the show closed in 2002 it had seen 17,162 performances in its original location, the Sullivan Street Playhouse, a small off-Broadway theatre in Greenwich Village, making it the longest running show in the history. Nine presidents have seen The Fantasticks and generation after generation have embraced the universality of the show.

Honorees were on hand to receive their awards and Romulus Linney, Ellen Stewart and Lanford Wilson were posthumously inducted into the Off Broadway Hall of Fame.
