Just last night, April 8, Inside Broadway (Executive Director, Michael Presser) honored Tony Award-winning Broadway icon Chita Rivera, NBC News/The Today Show's Al Roker, and scenic designer Beowulf Boritt at the Broadway Beacon Awards Gala. 

On Monday, April 8 at their annual Broadway Beacon Awards Gala at The JW Marriot Essex House (160 Central Park South), leading NYC arts education nonprofit Inside Broadway (Executive Director, Michael Presser) will honor Tony Award-winning Broadway icon Chita Rivera and NBC News/The Today Show's Al Roker. Rivera will be receiving the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award which will be presented to her by celebrated musician Steven Van Zandt of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band.

Greater Tuna is a strange little play that was written in 1982 and was a huge hit in middle America before it made its way Off-Broadway, and eventually to HBO. There are three plays in the series, and Coyote Stageworks has mounted the first one as their final production in their 2018/2019 schedule as a nod to their first season.

The League of Professional Theatre Women (Kelli Lynn Harrison & Catherine Porter, Co-Presidents), an organization which has been leading the gender parity conversation and championing women in the professional theatre for over 35 years, will present an Oral History Project event with six-time Emmy and Tony nominee Tovah Feldshuh on Monday, May 6 starting at 6pm in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (111 Amsterdam Avenue at 65th Street). Admission to the event is FREE and seats are available on a first-come-first-seated basis. Doors will open at 5:30pm.

Walter Stearns, Executive Director of Mercury Theater Chicago, announced today the cast and creative team of the upcoming LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, running on the main stage from March 1 through April 28. The press opening is Sunday, March 10 at 7:30pm. The Huntington is now accepting applications for the 2019-2021 Huntington Playwriting Fellow Cohort. To be eligible, writers must live at least nine months of each calendar year in the Greater Boston area. Applications can be submitted online and all materials must be submitted via email to submissions@huntingtontheatre.org no later than 11:59PM on Thursday, December 13, 2018. Early submissions are encouraged, and submissions are read roughly in the order they are received.

The stage adaptation of Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dalton Trumbo's war novel, Johnny Got His Gun, written by Bradley Rand Smith and directed by Tim Robbins, began previews on October 6th and opened October 13th.

The Madison Square Garden Company announced that Steely Dan kicked off their nine-night residency last night at the Beacon Theatre and will continue performances throughout the month of October including October 18, 20, 21, 24, 26, 27, 29 & 30 at 8:00pm each night.  Their last show during the run on Tuesday, October 30th will mark their 60th performance at the legendary venue.  Tickets are on-sale now.

The Actors' Gang announced today that the stage adaptation of Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dalton Trumbo's war novel, Johnny Got His Gun, written by Bradley Rand Smith and directed by Tim Robbins, will kick off The Actors' Gang 2018/19 Season from Saturday, October 6th to Saturday, November 10th, 2018. The press opening is Saturday, October 13.

Late 2018 will mark the 40th anniversary of Bauhaus. American Ballet Theatre Soloist Catherine Hurlin is the recipient of a 2018 Princess Grace Award (Barbara & John Lehman Dance Award). Hurlin received one of nine fellowships granted in the Dance and Choreography category. The annual Princess Grace Foundation-USA awards were announced in New York City on July 26.
